Last [F] night and the night before,
I had [Fm] 25 drivers at my door.
prepare a lot, even though we'd already made [C] the record.
[Bb] doing other music.
some stuff we don't [Bb] explain, and our own stuff.
had to make [Bb] sure that I knew it as good as [Cm] possible.
know, [Bb] when you get out on stage, you're performing, you're talking to people.
in other places other than [F] just thinking about the lyric and [Gm] the melody.

Last [F] night and the night before, _ _
I had [Fm] 25 drivers at my door.
[F] _ I did prepare a lot, even though we'd already made [C] the record.
Still, [F] I'm touring all the time with my band, [Bb] doing other music.
I haven't done any of the [F] seesaw stuff with my band.
Just some stuff we don't [Bb] explain, and our own stuff.
So when I showed [Fm] up, I just had to make [Bb] sure that _ I knew it as good as [Cm] possible.
Because you know, [Bb] when you get out on stage, you're performing, you're talking to people.
Your head is in other places other than [F] just thinking about the lyric and [Gm] the melody.
You want to kind of [Bb] forget about [F] that, and be in the moment.
_ _ [Bb] _
_ [F] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ [Bb] _
_ [F] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ [Bb] _
_ [F] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ [Bb] _
_ [F] _ _ [Bb] _ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Bb]
Feeling [F] good like an old sheet [Bb] of tar.
_ [F] _ _
[Fm] Now it's time for love again.
[F] _ _ _ [Eb]
Man is [F] found and he finally [Bb] wins.
_ [F] _ _
[Bb] It's a different [F] place.
Two studios, it's one venue.
And the live [Bb] show is a different venue.
So [D] either it's going to be a little edgier, or it's going to be safe.
It depends on the evening and the vibe, all of us together.
_ _ [Gm]
The band [Bb] is strong together.
[Fm] It doesn't matter where we are.
We [Gm] stick close to whatever the situation is, [Bb] whatever the elements are.
[F] It's unbeatable too.
[C] Whether we play outdoors, indoors, or at an old chicken shack, we'll still be rocking it.
Because we stay [D] together, we're listening all the time to each other.
Depending on each other.
[N] Yeah, exactly. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _ _ _
_ [N] _ _ _ _ Strange Creek really, really worked.
It's hard work.
It really is.
So huge too. _
_ _ [G] Not push more, I don't know why.
My birthday is so fun.
_ Yeah, it's off his head really.
My birthday is so fun.
Miss Lady, I mean the whole one. _
She did [Gm] a great job sitting on the stage.
She was my [N] pet over there.
Hey Kevin, can I sit down for a second?
_ I don't need a chair.
I can sit over here. _
[C] Can you get off my head?
Yeah.
_ [Dm] _ _ [Eb] _ _
_ [Fm] _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [G] _
_ [C] _ _ [G] I guess from doing it for so many years, there [Cm] are certain things that I've [G] learned are a great [Eb] way to connect with an audience.
[Fm] But honestly, [Eb] during the shows, [D] I kind of let [Cm] what's going to happen naturally.
Because if I [Ab] premeditate it too much, I find that it comes across as phony.
And that's the [Eb] worst thing.
I don't want it to [Fm] be a, hey you guys have come to this show, you've paid the [G] money, and here I go.
I'm going to do [Cm] the act.
[G] I don't want it to be that.
I want it [Cm] to be [D] as personal and as [Gm] connected as possible.
And I [Eb] think that's my goal.
[Bb] It's not like it's a goal because I [Ab] think that's the bomb way to do it or anything.
[G] I think it's my goal for selfish reasons [Cm] because I want to feel like I'm not alone.
[Fm] So if I can connect with them on a really personal level, [C] then suddenly I get to feel [G] like we are all together. _
I need them to not feel so alone. _ _
_ [Am] _ _ [A] _ _ [Dm] _ _ _
[G] _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
Can I, I have an old suggestion man.
[N] In keeping with the soul tradition, at the end of Miss Lane, when the pig does his bits,
_ _ _ [G]
shouldn't we, keeping with the pilot belt, do a refrain [Eb] of, [A] as she walks off and says goodbye.
_ _ _ [Eb] _
_ [Gm] She goes, thank you very much for watching.
[D] It's a total soul [G] band thing.
_ Like when a refrain [Bb] does it, the band still on as she [E] walks off.
I think that would be cool.
[Bm] I also think, I [B] think that's great.
I think that's a cool idea.
And I think you've got to make a solo [Db] out of that drum solo too.
[D] I mean it's like, [Ab] you know, eight bars is [Dm] respectable.
[N] I think you can actually do that whole slow down [G] thing, make a solo out of it.
And then come back in.
It feels like a reunion.
I'd be sure of working there quite a bit.

The first gig in Bergen, I knew we were in like really good [Bb] shape.
Everybody felt [E] great, it's been relaxed, [D] the feel's been relaxed, nothing's [E] erratic.
_ So, you know, it's [Ab] always opening night, you're most nervous and a little bit apprehensive about [A] the result.
But after those first couple of songs we're [Ab] very settled in, it was a great night.
[A] And we're very excited, you know, we all came off the stage and went, well done dude. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
