[A] Welcome back ladies and gents, in today's guitar study we will be learning the intro
theme to the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul.
[F#] Exercise number 1.
[A] [C] [C#m] [C]
[A] We're kicking the first segment off with this chord.
That's ring finger on the D string 7th fret, [C] middle finger on the 6th fret G [C#] string and
then we're barring the 5th fret with our index finger B and [A] E.
From there we are moving our
bar from [G#] our index finger one string upwards.
That means we're including the G [D#] string in our bar.
From there we play 5 [C]-5, slide [C#m]
to 9-9.
[C] [E]
From there we keep our bar on [G#] the 9th fret including the E, B and G string [C#] and then we
play E9, B9 and [E] G9.
[C]
[C#m] [C] From there we hit this chord.
Now this is the exact [G#] same finger positioning as the chord we did before except we're starting
off on the [A] 10th fret instead of 7th.
So here we started on 7th, we shift the position [C] starting from 10th and everything else stays the same.
Then we move higher up on the fretboard [D]
placing our index finger on the G string 14, middle
finger 13 on the B [C] string and index finger on the 12 high E.
From there we're going to
play this [Am] chord but you have to play it one note after the other.
So you don't want to play it all together like that but slowly.
From there with our pinky we're playing 17th [C] note on [G] the B string.
Then moving with our [Cm] middle finger to the 13th note on the B string with a very [Am] very slight bend.
So we played one note after the other,
[Gm] pinky, [Cm] middle finger and then we cut it off right
in the middle of it so it [C] sounds, it has a little bit of a staccato feel to it.

Now it's time for exercise [A] 2.
[C] [C#m] [Em] [D#]
[C] [A]
We're kicking it off again with the same chord from the intro of exercise 1.
Adding the same slide from 5 to 9.
[C] [C#m]
Playing 9 on the high E, [C#] 9 on the B but instead of going to 9 on the G we're going to 12 on the G.
[C]
And we're giving it a very [Cm] slight minor bend just as we did in the previous exercise with
the 13th note.
[C] [C#m] [C#]
[E] Then we're going to play open note on the low E.
So that's 4 times.
From [G#] there we are adding a [Em] rake to our strings while [D#] going to the 5th note with our pinky
on the B string.
[E]
Then we're moving to the 4th fret on the B string with [Cm] our index [D#] finger and then with
our middle finger on the 3 B [D] string and then with our index [C] finger on the 1 B string.
Then we have a quick hammer on on the D string with [D] our middle finger.
[E] That's hammer on open note to 2 on the D.
Then we move back to the B string with our [Cm] index finger on the 1, [D] hammer on to 3 with
our [G] ring finger on the same string B and [G#] then we have on the A string with our [B] middle finger
open [A] note,
[C] hammer on, bend 3, [A] open note A, index finger on the 2 on the D string.
[E] [D#] [C] [Am]
[A]
I hope you enjoyed this [C] study.
I've [C#m] always wanted to play [C] along to that sweet theme and I hope [D] you will too.
