Better Together by Jack Johnson -- Ukulele Tutorial chords
Start Jamming...
Hi, in this video I'm going to do a tutorial for Better Together by Jack Johnson.
There's about, there's three parts to it, or there's four parts to it.
The first part is the intro on the guitar, but obviously I'm teaching it on ukulele,
and so I'll just start with the intro.
[G] [Dm]
[C] [F] [Fm] [G]
[Fm] [D] Alright, so now I'll teach it to you.
Starts with your middle finger barring the first two strings on the fifth fret, like
[G] that, and then your ring finger, you put on the second string, even though it's barred,
you [D] keep the bar there.
So this is the eighth fret, [D] that's what it should sound like, that's the first two notes,
like da da, but then, so then [Ab] the third note, you put your pinky here, which is the tenth
fret on the bottom string, so [G] then when you play it, it goes, and then you take it off
for the next note, and play the bottom string, so it's third string, [Gb] fourth string, fourth
string, fourth string, third string, [Eb] and then you see your finger here, you kind of bend
[Fm] the knuckle down there so that it's at two bars right there, both of them are bars, and
so then that, this is an F here, so then, so [G] then you go, [F]
[D] and then you play this one
again, and then you let go of both of those, and [Gb] then you play this, and this is where
it gets easy.
So then you play the bottom string, and then the top [G] string, [Gb] not like the top string, but
the third string, the higher string, and then you move it down two frets, the same thing,
just the bar, the rest of [C] it is just little two string bars like that, and then bottom,
top again, and then you [D] move it up, then you do the same pattern again, the bottom
string, then the [F] top string, then you move it up, instead of moving it up two, you move
it up three, and then you move it up [Gm] two again, [Fm]
and then down, and then for this last one,
you move your finger so that it's barring the three, and do those three, although, in
actually playing the song, I usually [C] just do these two, and then go right to the song,
and [D] so it goes over all,
[Dm] [C] [A] [D]
[Eb] [Am] and you get into the song, [F] and so that's all it is in the intro,
it's also at the end of the song, so you play that there too.
So here's how the verse sounds, [Am] [Dm] [C] [Bb]
[Dm] [Gm] [C]
[F] and now I'll teach it to you.
First I'll start with the chords, and then I'll teach you the whole strumming pattern.
So the first chord is an F chord, and then [Gbm] you let go to an [Am] A minor chord, and then you
go to a D [Dm] minor chord, [G] and then to a C chord, [Am] and then to [Bb] B flat, to D minor, [Dm]
to G minor,
[Gm] to [C] C.
And so those string of chords [E] repeat for the whole verse multiple times.
So here's the strumming pattern for the verse.
It's very simple, all it is is one and two and one and two and one and two and one and two.
The only hard part is on every two, you do a chunk, so one and two and one and two and
one and two and one [F] and two.
If you don't know how to chunk, here's a video I used to learn, it was really useful for
me, a lot more useful than me trying to teach you it in here.
And so in the verse, here's what it sounds like, you do one, one, and two for each chord.
One and two and one [Dm] and two and one and [C] two and one and two and [Dm] one and two and one [Gm] and
two [C] and one and two and one and two.
And so there you go, just keep practicing that and soon you'll have it.
So now I'll teach you the chorus.
It starts with a B major chord, [B] [Ab] and then it goes to [Bb] B flat,
[G] and then a [C] C.
It's just those three chords over and over again.
So now I'll show you the strumming for the chorus.
The rhythm goes down, one and two and, and four [E] and one and two and, and four and.
So down, up, down, up, up, down, up, down, up, down, up.
Like the verse, every beat two and four, [Gb] you put a chunk in, so it [F] actually goes
[B] like that.
And so here's how it goes with the chords.
You start the first up right before the new measure, you start with a B, [Bb] so, and then
you go to the B flat.
[C] [Bb]
[C] [Bb]
[N] And that's how it goes.
Now I'll show you the bridge.
It's pretty much the same thing as the chorus, except instead of going from [Gm] B to B flat,
this is a G minor chord.
So, [C]
[Gm] [C]
[Gm] [C]
[G] and that's the bridge, that's all it is, the same strumming, I don't need to teach you that again.
Then it ends with a similar.
[Am] [D] And then at the very end you play this part again.
[Dm] [Fm] [G]
[F] [Gb] [F]
So that's all it is.
If you have any questions or you want me to go more in [Gm] detail, [Gb] if you want to learn how
to play the chunk, look up that link,

Hi, in this video I'm going to do a tutorial for Better Together by Jack Johnson.
_ _ There's about, there's three parts to it, or there's four parts to it.
The first part is the intro on the guitar, but obviously I'm teaching it on ukulele,

[G] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _
[C] _ _ [F] _ _ [Fm] _ _ [G] _ _
[Fm] _ _ _ [D] _ Alright, so now I'll teach it to you.
Starts with your middle finger barring the first two strings on the fifth fret, like
[G] that, and then your ring finger, you put on the second string, even though it's barred,

_ _ So this is the eighth fret, _ [D] that's what it should sound like, that's the first two notes,
like da da, _ but then, so then [Ab] the third note, you put your pinky here, which is the tenth

for the next note, and play the bottom string, so it's third string, [Gb] fourth string, fourth

[Fm] the knuckle down there so that it's at two bars right there, both of them are bars, and
so then that, _ _ this is an F here, so then, so [G] then you go, _ [F] _ _ _
_ [D] and then you play this one
again, and then you let go of both of those, and [Gb] then you play this, and this is where
it gets easy.
So then you play the bottom string, and then the top [G] string, [Gb] not like the top string, but
the third string, the higher string, _ and then you move it down two frets, the same thing,
just the bar, the rest of [C] it is just little two string bars like that, _ and then bottom,
top again, _ and then you [D] move it up, _ _ then you do the same pattern again, the bottom
string, then the [F] top string, then you move it up, instead of moving it up two, you move
it up three, _ _ _ and then you move it up [Gm] two again, _ _ [Fm] _
and then down, _ and then for this last one,
you move your finger so that it's barring the three, _ _ and do those three, although, in
actually playing the song, I usually [C] just do these two, and then go right to the song,
and [D] so it goes over all, _ _ _
[Dm] _ _ _ [C] _ _ [A] _ _ [D] _
_ _ _ _ _ [Eb] _ [Am] and you get into the song, _ [F] and so that's all it is in the intro,
it's also at the end of the song, so you play that there too.
So here's how the verse sounds, _ [Am] _ _ [Dm] _ _ [C] _ _ [Bb] _
_ [Dm] _ _ [Gm] _ _ [C] _ _ _
[F] and now I'll teach it to you.
First I'll start with the chords, and then I'll teach you the whole strumming pattern.
_ So the first chord is an F chord, _ _ and then [Gbm] you let go to an [Am] A minor chord, _ and then you
go to a D [Dm] minor chord, _ _ _ [G] and then to a C chord, [Am] _ _ _ and then to [Bb] B flat, _ _ _ to D minor, [Dm] _ _ _
to G minor,
[Gm] _ _ to [C] C.
_ And so those string of chords [E] repeat for the whole verse multiple times.
It starts with a B major chord, [B] _ _ _ [Ab] and then it goes to [Bb] B flat, _ _
_ [G] and then a [C] C.
_ It's just those three chords over and over again.
So now I'll show you the strumming for the chorus.
The rhythm goes down, one and two and, and four [E] and one and two and, and four and.
So down, up, down, up, up, down, up, down, up, down, up.
Like the verse, every beat two and four, [Gb] you put a chunk in, so it [F] actually goes _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [B] like that.
And so here's how it goes with the chords.
You start the first up right before the new measure, you start with a B, [Bb] so, and then
you go to the B flat. _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
[N] And that's how it goes.
Now I'll show you the bridge.
It's pretty much the same thing as the chorus, except instead of going from [Gm] B to B flat,
this is a G minor chord.
_ So, _ [C] _ _ _
_ [Gm] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ [Gm] _ _ _ _ [C] _ _ _
_ [G] and that's the bridge, that's all it is, the same strumming, I don't need to teach you that again.
Then it ends with a similar.
[Am] _ _ [D] And then at the very end you play this part again. _ _ _ _ _
_ [Dm] _ _ [Fm] _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ _ [F] _ _ _ [Gb] _ [F] _
So that's all it is.
If you have any questions or you want me to go more in [Gm] detail, [Gb] _ if you want to learn how
to play the chunk, look up that link,
