Special lady and she I love for the same

Contemporary folk music of the [Cm] day in Sylvia
We both discovered were huge influences on our music and [F] though it was pretty quick
We started hanging out of the music [C] venue
_ [Am] In Austin, which was the premier folk venue called the checkered flag
[E] Bonnie and I of course cut our teeth at the checkered flag _
As just kids [Bb] we were given the opportunity by Rod Kennedy who owned the venue and
[A] _ later founded the Kerrville Folk Festival _
[C] _ But Bonnie and I started his duo and then we put a band together.
[G] We started playing all the road houses
honky-tonks [Am] around Austin

_ _ _ _ [A] Was [E] influenced by a lot [A] of popular music so I really liked Carole King
We play a Carole King song and then I [Gb] do a Mel Tillis tune.
This was sort of the [Bb] beginning of the mishmash [D] of _ _ _
_ Melting pot of [A] Austin music _
Early [Em] 70s late 60s.
[F] So it was an interesting time to be in Austin [A] a great time to be [Am] there _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [Dm] _ The
Kerrville [F] Folk Festival was a [E] wonderful
_ Springboard for Bonnie and I as [C] far as is people finding out about us
[F] Try to get things right and do songs that are relevant and not be cliche
[D] _ _ with my music and try to be who I am and always be believable and
You know true to my work.

Show as much respect for them as [Dm] I can and all the players that have played with Bonnie and [Am] I too many to mention
Have been fabulous

[F] Musicians, but they were all consider them friends every one of them

But Bonnie means [E] the world to me and I'll do anything I can for I
Just hope that people remember me as a [Am] nice person
there's a good [D] person and I hope they remember me for [A] my music and
The love that I had for it and the love I had for Bill Bill means everything to me _ _
