[G]
Country roads, [C] country roads, [Gm] it's [D] a song that lives forever, and we [C]
are at country [G] roads.
Tonight on the country road, we're happy to welcome two great [C] individual talents who join
forces occasionally and have become one of the most popular singing teams in [D] country music.
The handsome one is from Atlanta, Georgia, and the pretty one is a native [C] of West Plains,
Missouri.
Of course, [G] I'm referring to Bill Anderson and Jan Howard.
Bill Anderson started out as a disc jockey, a little songwriter, [C] and eventually made a
wise move and recorded his own songs, songs that have become standards like [D] Po-Po's, Still.
Jan Howard has a similar [Bm] background.
[D] Songwriters wanted [C] to hear what one of their songs sounded like.
They asked Jan Howard to [G]
record it as a demonstration record.
Then this led to a recording career of her own, and in 1967, Bill and Jan teamed up and
[C] recorded several songs together.
Right now, Country Gold is proud to welcome a man who, since [D]
1955, has consistently turned
out number one songs, one after another, Bill Anderson, [C] and one of Nashville's prettiest
singers, Jan [G] Howard.
We're proud to take a small part of the Bill Anderson show and present it to you tonight.
Welcome [Gm] Bill Anderson, Jan Howard.

If it's all the same [Ab] to you
[Bb] If you don't love me [Eb] like before
I [Ab]
don't think [Eb] I'll hang around
[Db] [Ab] And let you hurt me [Eb] even more
[Gm] If it's all the same [Ab] to you
[Bb]
If your love has [Eb] really gone
[Ab]
Pardon me while [Eb] I walk out
[Ab] Pick up my heart and [Eb] move along
[Bbm] [C]
[F] There's a whole lot of people [C] looking down their [F] noses at me
Cause I didn't come from [C] a wealthy
[F] family
There [Bb] was ten of us living [F] in a two room shack
[C] On the banks of the river [F] by the railroad track
[Bb] And we kept chickens [F] in a pen in the back
And everybody said [C] we was poor folks
But [F] we had [C] something in our house money [F] can't buy
Kept us warm in the winter [C] when the [F] sun was high
[Bb] For whenever we didn't [F] have food enough
[C] And the howling winds [F] would get pretty rough
[Bb] We'd patch the cracks and [F] set the table with love
[C] Cause that's what you [F] do when you're poor folks
[C] And we want [F] nothing but poor folks
[G]
Why don't I go and see my sister [A] now
[D] That's very thoughtful of you dear
And I'm really touched with all [G] this tenderness
But us women are a suspicious thing
And we know that men aren't always what's making me [C] so fine
[D] And I'm not smart but I'm not blind
And I think that you've got evil on [G] your mind
[D] And I'm not smart but I'm not blind
And I think that you've got evil on [G] your mind
[Ab] [A]
[E] Someday we'll be [D]
[A] together
Someday [Em]
we'll [D] be [A] together
Yes we will, oh we will
You're far away from me my love
But just as [D] sure my baby as there are [B] stars above
[A]
[E] Someday we'll be [D]
[A] together
Yes we will, yes we will
[E] Someday [D] we'll be
[A] together
Yes we will, oh we will
Our love is yours baby right from the start
You possess my [D] very soul
No I know you [Eb] own my heart
And I know [A] that
[E] Someday we'll [D] be [A] together
Sing it, sing it, sing it again
[E] Someday we'll [D] be [A] together
[B] Yes [D] we
[G] will
