music, Billy Scott.
[Abm] Born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1942 as [Gb] Peter Pendleton, Billy
grew [Db] fond of music, singing in several groups while [A] serving in the U.S. Army.
After recording
his first [Db] gold record in [Ab] _ [Dbm] 1968 [Gb] with I Got the Fever, he went on to find [Db] his lifelong
love of beach [Dbm] music in [Gbm] the [A] 1970s.
Billy grew the brand [B] of beach music, becoming a leader
and [Abm] inspiration to not only his fans, but with his [Db] smile and charisma for over 40 years,
he touched the life of nearly every artist in the industry. _

Billy always had a smile on his face and he just,
you wanted to be around and people wanted to [Bb] flock to him.

He was the best.

Billy Scott gave us some [Am] memories that will never be forgotten.
[F] Like everybody else who knew Billy, _ I felt like I was [Am] Billy's best friend.

As you know, I [Gm] call Billy Cousins.
That's right, for 30 [D] years, Billy [F] Cousins.
He told
me how to [Dm] perform, how to talk [D] to people, how to do things [Bb] on stage.
_ There's never been anyone that I've ever known that cared [C] more about his [F] family, his friends,
his bandmates, fellow musicians in the [Bb] industry, and a love for everyone he's probably ever
known.
[C] He was [A] everybody's best friend and he was by [D] far my greatest mentor.

He promoted it on every gig we played.
To me, he was an icon _ and he loved [E] beach music.

He was always doing something to try to keep the music alive.
