One of the best tunes by the Beach Boys has got to be Don't Worry Baby from 1964.
It was the flip side of I Get Around.
Well, through the years, many different artists have re-recorded the song, including the Who's Keith Moon and Brian Ferry from Roxy Music.
Plus, our featured artist today, B.J. Thomas.
Now, what many of you may not know is that Don't Worry Baby is actually about a race car driver.
And in the Keith Moon version, the lyrics are exactly the same as the Beach Boys.
But, the Brian Ferry and B.J. Thomas version, the lyrics have been changed.
In Brian's version, he talks about his car.
He's bragging about it.
He pushes the guys too far and she stands behind him.
She makes him want to drive.
Here, take a [E] listen.
I guess I should have given my soul [A] to that [B] car.
[E] Though I can't remember that [A]
I could be [B] like that.
[F#m]
She makes [B] me cry.
[G#m]
[C#] In [F#] the B.J. Thomas version and Brian Ferry, the part about the [G#m] car was changed to [N] be more generic.
More of an across-the-board love song.
From 1977, the B.J. Thomas version made it to number 17.
And the video features one of the greatest race car drivers of all time, Jeff Gordon.
