Hello, thank you very much.
This next little part of my program changes pace quite a bit.
[N] I'm fortunate enough to get to play quite a bit of jazz and commercial music in Los Angeles.
And this series of pieces I'm going to play now are from some of the people that I've worked with, associated with a lot of people I've worked with and been inspired by in the Los Angeles area.
The first couple songs I play in a big band led by a composer and arranger named Tom Kubis, who's a wonderful musician.
And he wrote some arrangements for solo instrument, any solo instrument, doesn't matter which instrument.
And he sent many of us in the band copies of these arrangements that he recorded at his house.
And they're actual big band arrangements with him playing all the saxophone parts and he plays all the brass parts with a synthesizer.
So it's a nice sounding demo tape basically, but when we play these with his band, it's with live people.
But unfortunately on one day's notice, which is what we had to come out here from California, I couldn't bring the whole band with me, unfortunately.
So I have a digital version of the band that I would like to employ during these next two numbers.
The first one is a beautiful tune by Antonio Carlos Jobim [G] called, let's see, what [Am] am I playing?
Black Orpheus, of course.
Okay, I will start with that one first.
