Start Jamming...
This is one of my favorite Irish jigs.
It's the Blarney Pilgrim.
Key signature
says one sharp, G major, but it's not in G major.
I believe it's in D mixolydian.
So here it is.
I'll play it.
Oh, this has three parts.
An A part, a B part, and a C
part, which is why I love it so much.
I'll play the [E] A, B, and the C [Ab] slowly for you,
and then I'll kick [B] it up with some ornaments.
Okay, here we go.
One, two, three, [Bm] four, five,
six, one, two, three, ready, set, go.

So, a couple notes.
[Ab] On the B part, you saw me going back and forth between, should [G] I
do fourth finger, [Ab] or should I do all these excessive string crossings?
That's up to you.
I think it's a [Em] slightly cleaner to do [Gb] string crossings, but it's way more efficient to
do fourth finger.
So, let me show [G] you what I mean.
Here's with fourth finger.
[Bm]
Here's
without fourth finger.
[E] [G] [Ab] I think it's really hard to do open strings, but that's because
my pinky is agile.
If yours is not, it might be easier for you to [G] do open strings.
On [Ab] the
C part, on [B] the slow version, I showed you clean [A] string crossings, [D] [Eb]
hitting only one string
at a time, [Dm] but it's totally [D] cool to [Ab] drag the bow so that it [D] hits,
[G] [D] [B] so that when you get
to your A string, don't let go of your D string, and it makes this nice little chord.
[D]
