[C] [G]
[A] I'm a beast [Am] in my head,
[G] a burning in my thigh,
a nervous [D] being in my brain.
[Bm] And I'm [E] so peaceful.
[A]
You know, we've been talking about a lot of things
that have happened in my life and everybody's life.
But when I said earlier that I wanted
to start [N] painting what it feels like to be content,
I made some changes in my life and just
decided to take away the crutches that
were holding me down.
And instead of picking me up, I had my daughter Sadie.
And this song was written.
It's probably my favorite song that I've ever written.
But I'm very [A] proud of it.
I'm actually glad that this was inside of me.
Because when it was [Dm] written, [A] I was just kind of like, wow.
I didn't know that piece of me existed.
So
[C#m] thanks for helping me be here.
[D]
[E]
[A]
All my life, I've been running from the pain in me,
a [D] feeling I don't understand.
But it's holding [E] me down.
[G] [A] So rain on me, underwater all I am,
getting harder, [D] the heavy weight that I carry on [E] the ground.
Because [D] you see, today,
[A] I don't have [E] to fall [D]
apart.
[A] And I don't [E] have to be [D]
afraid.
[G] [A]
And I don't [E] have to let [D] the damage consume me.
My shadows see through me.
Because fear in [E]
itself can reel you [F#]
in and spit you [E]
out.
Over and over [D] again, believe in [E]
yourself.
And you will [A]
walk.
But [D]
now, fear in [E]
itself will use [F#] you up.
And it breaks [A] you [E]
down.
You're never [D]
enough.
Yeah, I used [E] to fall.
But now I get [Dm] back [A] up.
[A#] Now, [A] I'm up here.
I'm [D] looking at [C#m] the way down there.
And I'm staring [D] through the eye.
Don't care.
And it's staring back [E] at me.
But you [G]
[A] see, the beauty is I'm learning how to face my beast.
And I'm starting [C#] now [D] to find some peace and set myself [E] free.
[Em] But you see, [D]
today, [A]
I don't have [E] to fall [Bm] [D]
apart.
[A] And I don't [E] have to be [D]
afraid.
[A] And I don't have [E] to let the [D]
damage consume me.
My shadows see through me.
Because fear in [E] itself can reel [F#] you in and spit [A] you [E]
out.
Over [G] and over [D]
again, believe in [E]
yourself.
And you [G] will [A]
walk.
[D] And now, fear in [E]
itself will use [F#] you up.
And break [A] you [E]
down.
You're never [D] enough.
Listen, I used to [E]
fall.
But now I get [A] back up.
You see, because I'm moving on.
[C#m] Oh, God, just [F#] move on.
Oh,
[D] [E]
you
[G] [A] and I, I, I, [C#m]
I, [F#] I, I, I, [D] [E]
I.
[B] Because [D] you see, today,
[A] I [D] don't [E] have to fall [D]
apart.
[A]
And I don't [E] have to [D] be afraid
So I get back up
Then I get [N] up
And nothing will break me down Yeah, fear
Oh, fear Oh
Breaks you down
And [D]
I used to fall
So [A] now I breathe
And [D] I ask for more
[A] And if I'm [F#] bitter still
I ask Him to help [Bm] me carry [E] on
Thank you very much.
