Hi, I'm Ian Walsh with OnlineLessonVideos.com.
Today's lesson is a tune called Cluck Old Hen.
We're going to do it in the key of A [G] minor, and I'm going to show you how to play it in
two different octaves, the first one being up in the higher octave on the A and the E
string, and [Gb] then we'll move down into the [Em] G and the D string.
So here's a sample of it, Cluck Old Hen.
[B]
[A] [E]

[D]
So let me [Ab] start this tune off by showing you just some of the notes in the first part.
They're pretty easy, and once we have them, just [G] the basic notes down, we'll start adding
in some of the crucial elements, I [Bb] think, to this tune.
[Ab] In particular, the [B] double stop, the A and the E.
So we start off in the high A and the E string here, and the first notes [Gb] are E, A, G.
[Bb] [G]
Once you have that, [Ab] your next triad of notes is E, A, [D] D.
[Bb] Then you play your first one again, and then [Ab] we walk down from the [D] E.
[Dm]
So those notes are E, D, [Abm] C natural, and [G] A.
Now when you put [Ab] them all together, you get a sequence sounding a little like [D] this.
[A] [Dm]
Okay, [E] a couple of things.
That last C [G] natural that you play at the end there, I like to slide into a sharp position
while also blending with the E string.
So it sounds [Em] like this.
[Dm] [B]
[G] That blending of the A and the E string [Fm] is crucial for [Bb] this tune.
So we're going to start playing, instead of just the bow on the E string, [G] and then on
the A string for the D note, we're going to let the bow play both the A and the [E] E string.
So now, try to play that sequence of notes.
