We're going to work with a simple shuffle in the key of A.
I think what I'm going to do is I'm going to really focus on the hi-hat [Bb] and the snare,
because [G] I'm going to play like a bubble part, a muted part.
[Ab] What I'm thinking when I'm doing that is my ears are this big listening to where the time is,
[G] so that my muted part is right with the time of the hi-hat.
[A]
If you're going to develop your muted part a little [Ab] bit,
put some accents in it, little pushes,
that's when your ears have to be very, very big,
so that those accents come right between those [A] hi-hat beats.
That's what will make your rhythm section gel real good.
So let's experiment with that.
