Chords for Blues Guitar Lesson - Michael Bloomfield guitar lick

Hey guys, good morning, it's Claude Johnson from GuitarControl [Bb].com.
It is Sunday, May 12th, it's Mother's Day.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.
Happy Mother's Day, mom, if you're watching this, although you probably [G] aren't.
[Ab] So anyway, today I want [Bb] to give you a nice little lesson.
I want to show you a blues lick in the style of Michael Bloomfield, one of the great, all-time
great blues guitarists.
So this is in the key of B, let's check it out.
[D] Alright, so here's the [G] lick. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [B] Okay, so we're in [G] the key of B, [Eb] up here in the 7th fret.
_ And what [Db] we're going to do is start on the B string, _ [G] _ so [B] we're going to go 7th fret, 9th
fret, and [G] then up to the high E string.
So the first three notes, _ _ and I'm doing a hammer-on. _ _
I'll show you the picking in a second.
_ _ [Abm] So we do that, and then we [G] bend.
[D] _ _ So we're bending on the [Db] high E string from the 9th fret up to the 11th.
_ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [B] _ _
Then we do a little triplet, [Abm] _ [Gb] so it's like a hammer [G]-on pull-off.
_ _ [Gb] 1, 2, 3, and then [B] back down to the B string.
_ [Dbm] So [G] far we have this _ _
_ _ [Ab] _ _ _ [G] _ _ [Eb]
nice little lick [Ab] right there. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ [Abm] _ _ [C] Then we do [G] this.
_ _ Okay, so you're on the high E string, 7th fret, and [D] you're going kind of right back
down, 9th [Db] fret on the B string to 7th [G] fret.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _
Okay, then we do _ just 7th fret on the [E] high E string, and then 7th fret on the B string.
So just [G] two notes.
[E] _ _ _ [G] _ _ [Db] _ _
Okay, and then finally [Gb] we slide up _ to the 12th fret on the B string.
[A] So here's the lick [G] slow. _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [E] Once again, [G] I'll try even slower. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Gb] So with the picking, what I'm doing, _ downstroke, hammer-on, _ [G] and then upstroke. _ _
Okay, then downstroke, [Bb] _ _ [Gb] _ _ _
_ [Eb] _ [Ab] upstroke, _ and I do a hammer-on pull-off, _ downstroke.
_ _ [E] _
Then I do, [G] this is tricky, I [E] do an upstroke, [Eb] and then I'm just going to hammer-on on this
string [G] out of nowhere without picking it.
And then I do kind of like a sweep, _ down, [B] down.
That's the trickiest part [Ab] of the picking, _ _ _ [Bm] _
_ [B] trying to really get clear.
_ _ [G] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [Bb] So, [Gm] it's a nice little blues lick.
And what's cool about it for me is that [N] you're almost in the minor pentatonic position, [Bm] _ _ [E] but
you're actually playing in the major [Bm] pentatonic.
_ _ _ [Abm] _
So, this [Bb] is a nice little fretboard visualization, little tidbit here.
So when you have your minor pentatonic, you have on the top two strings [G] three notes apart. _
_ _ If you just change those to three notes apart, [Abm] sorry, two [Ab] notes apart, _ _ there's your major.
_ [A]
So what we can do with this lick [Cm] is [G] start it off _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
and go into something minor right from [Gb] that.
So, play around, mix it [Bb] up.
