[F] [Gb] Hello Thomas.
Hey Ian.
Yeah, this is a great pleasure to meet the master [G] behind the saga
[N] One of those historical bands.
I've been a fan too.
Mm-hmm, and I remember when I was a teenager
Listening to some scary guitar playing.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, I was a little out of control and
Since then [D] in the 80s, you know, there's been so many guitar [G] players coming up and you know back then I [Gb] had really good edge
I'm still good, you know [G] my own style
And do you have any heroes when you were younger, oh, yeah, it's Jeff Beck
I'm sure Jimi Hendrix [E] Eric [C] Clapton all of these guys [A] when I grew up.
They were just coming out
Yeah, I was 13 years old, you [G] know
I see so I was learning up these kind of guitar players because I'm self-taught
I meet me too.
Yeah, but I think there's a secret to self-taught musicians you come up or you end up with your own style
[N] Yeah, because I [G] think it's like you can try to learn other people's music but you never
[Eb] You're almost getting there
But you know [G] almost and the little bit which is almost makes you special and I think this is
How probably you got your style and I [Db] got mine, too
Yeah, I gave up.
I mean I learned off of the [E] guitar players putting the [Abm] record on and
Slowing [Bb] it down with my thumb and [Eb] the tone changes to [G] right.
So we're trying to figure it out
I had no idea how to play at first, you know
and this went on for a few years till I was about 16 or 15 16 and then I
Took that away and it's one of my own and this was [A] it
Yeah, I had a friend in Toronto bass player and we played all the time kept me out of [G] trouble.
Okay, good
It's always good to have a friend.
Yeah
So how is life in Toronto Canada is [Bm] I mean you speak [D] English
I guess because the the other part of Canada speaks French Quebec [Ab] Quebec.
Yeah, there's 12 provinces
[Gb] One is one is French.
So we're into me a little bit too.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's English speaking
I mean now once again when I you know, when I grew up there there was like not nearly as many [Fm] people
It was really nice.
I could go downtown when I was 12 years old and walk around you wouldn't do that now
[Gb] I see, you know [Eb] Toronto's become
[Gb] You know, it's not so dangerous, but it can be and all people from all all over now live there
So it's all different city
I moved out.
Okay.
Yeah, [C] I moved out years ago to
[G] one Gretzky's town
Brantford, okay, the hockey player a big famous.
Okay, so it's more like a secret place to me.
Yeah
[Eb]
Yeah, cool

[Cm] [D] [Ab]
[F] [A]
[Cm] I
[Ab]
[D] Know [Gb] you play these lamps I do.
Yeah, Peter
Great guy great amps tube guy, you know the real deal
[G] Dale and I think yeah, they really kicked by that's a really nice amp and
Since then I've discovered your amp the amp one which is
This one right here and it'll drive [Ab] my 412 cabinet.
[A] The good thing about this for me is
You know when we play internationally I get on the rider
I get gear supply right and I'll get a Marshall 2000 or whatever
I asked for a diesel but they're not they they're [Ab] hard to they're kind of a lead amp there
Yeah, [Eb] so I usually end up with the Marshall 2000 which you know
Flip a coin if it sounds any good because some of you know, some of them [Ab] are great
Absolutely, and some of them are [E] just oh
yeah, so this guy goes into my carry-on in the plane and
solves all the problems and
I'm using it, you know in the national power
[G] Yeah, so anywhere in the world and it sounds the same.
[Gb] That's that's the key.
It's like yeah, it's nice and fat
I mean I play that thing on for
Yeah, and it's like turn down in [A] turn down cool.
So I sometimes go up to six
Well, I can creep up there as a [B] keyboard start getting louder.
I get you'll see me reach over
[C] Any other things in your settings do [Eb] when you have
[Bb] Bass and mids is in the middle or all the way up or pretty much in the middle
[Gb] Pretty much in the middle.
I with my blue Lato.
It has a lot of bottom
So I roll a bit of that off.
Okay, [B] you know just a bit of that because it's got a lot
And the fine [G] tuners on the side.
I got to set those up really good.
I find the
The boost to
Very nice.
Okay, you know, I gotta remember to turn it off
[Ab] No, I forget I [N] see, you know and you start playing go wait a minute a little bit Oh
For me I wanted to make a thing that has everything
On it.
So so you are safe anywhere you go and
It's proven to do that to me so far here, yeah, and I've been going to Vancouver
down to Panama
all over the place and I sound the same yeah, you know suppose and
What other gear you use effect wise we have our delay pedals or chorus or I have no idea
Well, I'm mr.
Dry man, really.
I use none except for
I'm using the clean sound in here.
So use a lot of times
In my setup all have two amps because I've always found that one amp for me
It doesn't it's either a great amp for you know, heavy guitars made yours or
[Gb] Yeah, so I use the Roland jazz [E] 120 course, you know, yeah, [Gb] that's an an AV box and go back and forth
But I've been using the the [N] blue guitar.
I find it's really good
Once it's very flat when the clean comes in it sounds great
So I [D] sass it up a bit with a boss course and just a little [C] which is a two-minute thing
But it sounds sweet really sweet and that's all I'm using.
So I'm not using two amplifiers
It's just one for 12 cabinet in there [G] and that's it.
Yeah
Cool.
Well, it makes me happy to hear that people like you play this little thing that I've first designed for myself
Well, it has a two minute this is a hundred watt tube
it uses a
total analog signal path with the tube in the power on stage as a driver if
I'm I'm doing this for you know, as long as playing the guitar [Eb] Yeah
And this is kind of a mixture of [D] different analog [N] technologies to get what a real
Classic tube and would do without having all the parts that have the weight
So no transformers old school not the big glasses as a nano tube and and it's it's
what I've learned over the last 35 years and
Yeah, I'm [F] really impressed with it
