Bob Bennett: One-Year Heart Surgery Anniversary chords
Start Jamming...
Hello everybody, this is Bob Bennett.
Today is June 20th, 2015.
And for me it's a pretty significant day because a year ago I was having open heart surgery.
[D#]
I remember it, and maybe some of you remember that as well.
[D] For more reasons that I can even name, I'm happy to be sitting here making this little video.
[A#] Before I get to the reason I've got a guitar in my hand, [F#] let me say a couple things.
People always ask me how I'm doing.
Let me give you the quick heads up on that.
I'm doing just fine.
In fact, for about the last six months, I'm hearing the words that you always want to [N] hear
in a cardiac situation from your cardiologist, which is, I'll see you in three months.
It really doesn't get much better than that.
I had a recent EKG and then also wore a Holter monitor for a day, and everything is fine.
For those of you cardiac buffs, I was also diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, and I've been in NSR since last July.
So that's pretty miraculous to last that long.
People who go into AFib have a tendency to go in and out of it.
So at least so far, knock on wood, everything's good.
I feel better than I have in ages.
I love my new aortic valve.
That's what I had done.
I didn't have a heart attack.
I had a stiffening of the aortic valve that was causing some difficulties
and simply needed to be [C] replaced.
A plug and play.
I [Cm] wanted to thank a series of people, and you're going to see me perhaps glancing to the [E] left or right
because that's where my notes are mounted.
I want to thank my cardiac surgeon, Dr.
Anthony Caffarelli, and his team at Hoag Hospital.
My cardiologist, Dr.
Manaz Baboudica.
I love her and her staff.
[Am] Also, I want to say [E] a special appreciation to [Am] some of the selected staff at the Crystal Cove Care Center.
And also [D] my cardiac rehab team at Hoag.
These are the people who watched me ride an exercise bike
and acted like they were interested.
Well, they were interested.
It was really kind of cool.
[E] Also, I want to thank my primary care physician, Dr.
Ritul Chatterjee.
My friend, Dr.
Robert Mosteller, who's a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic.
He provided some great phone [D#m] conversations and questions and was a wonderful resource for me.
Also, I want to thank my Tuesday AM prayer guys.
You guys know who you are.
[E] Also, Father David Brownstein at St.
Matthew's Church.
He was the one who consistently came and visited me from my church.
And it was, as I said, at his retirement gathering, it was probably the closest thing to getting a visit from Jesus himself.
He is so gifted and so graceful at that.
Also, I want to thank Steve Bell, Dave Zaglinski.
You guys know why.
[F#]
Also, David Jennings and Roy Salmond, and you know why too.
My lifelong friend, Dan Ruppel, who [N] has been with me through thick and thin.
And then we get to the family part.
My mother-in-law, Gracie.
My brothers, Mike and Tim, with their respective brides, Evie and Marla.
I want to thank Paul and Tara and my loving and first grandson, Lucian.
I want to thank Colin and Chloe from Clotown.
I also want to thank my daughter, Kate.
[D] I love her dearly and miss her.
She's in Portland.
[Bm] I had a dedicated mailing [E] list.
There were 300 plus people that signed up for my Cardiac Prayer Team Bennett list.
Thank you.
Also, the people on my regular music mailing list that checked in and prayed for me.
People sent me cards, gifts, a not insignificant [N]
amount of money when I couldn't work and got me through.
So much appreciated everyone who did it or even thought about doing it.
And finally, at least here on earth, my primary everything, my wife, Elena.
Only God and she will ever know what a tough gig it was to take care of me.
It still is sometimes, I'm sure.
And last but not least, my Lord and my God.
St.
Paul describes God this way in 2 Corinthians 13, verse 14. He says,
And so that's also what I wish for you, [C] for all who are [G] visiting this little video today.
So,
Happy birthday, my new aortic [D] valve.
Happy birthday, my new aortic [Am] valve.
[G] Happy birthday.
I've got much better circulation and [C] oxygenation because of it.
[Cm] [G] Happy birthday to my new [C] aortic [A] valve.
[Am] [G] Amen.
[A]
[F#] Wouldn't you know it, I get through that entire thing in one take.
And I forget to mention my almost 5,000 Facebook friends and about 1,000 people who follow my public posts.
Thank you very much.
I'm a [N] headcase.
I forgot.
Well, no,
