[E] I'm just [B] unbelievably surprised how long I've been around.
[E] [A] I guess it's a testament to just doing [E] it all the time and even when you didn't make
money just doing it because you loved it.
[F] My father had taught me how to play the [C#m] four string bass ukulele.
I didn't have a guitar so I taught myself to sing [E] the songs on that.
I was singing like Don't Be Cruel when I [A] was 10 years old and things like [E] that.
It's about [F#] 15 years old and everybody [E] said, oh yeah, you can sing, man.
You got to do it.
You got to go after it.
I think I started writing about a year later [A] and by age 21, Ramble and Gable, man, I think
we had a top 10 record in the country.
[E]
[D] [E]
Silver Bullet Band [Bm] came together I think October [A] 73.
[B] I knew I had it when I had Silver Bullet.
I could really tell it was a [A] bunch of guys that all had the same ideas as [E] myself.
[N] It was pretty amazing.
We had a run of 11 consecutive platinum albums.
It all started with the Covo shows, [F#] which was of course Live Bullet.
[D#] Put the live [G#] album out.
I think six months later, Night Moves came out and [G#] then a couple months later they were
both platinum and it was like a really overnight kind of thing.
It was nice [C#] going from station wagons to jets as it were in a heartbeat.
I was about it.
[E]
[A] We built up just so much goodwill [B] down through the years touring.
[G#] It carried us I think into the records and right on down the line.
Sing those old [E] records all up your shelf.
Got [Em] so much airplay for so [F#m] long.
[C] Still running [Em] against the wind.
[B] I just got into a groove where I'd write for [Bm] six months, record for six months, tour for
nine [B] months, take three months off and start it over again.
[D] [Em]
[Em] It just became a way of life with us.
It's great when you can do something you love and people [A] really like it and you just make
people really happy, don't it?
