Hey, what's up you [F] guys?
Marty Schwartz here.
I'm going to teach you the song portion of this.
Be sure to check out the other video I have on the little finger-picking intro.
So that's another video.
So we'll zoom in, show you the chords, the rhythm.
You know, have a lot of fun playing this song.
It's a classic.
And it's all the classic chords too.
So it's just a great example of fun rock and roll.
Also real quick, thank you for subscribing to this channel of mine and liking the video,
leaving the comments and all that interaction.
I really, really appreciate it.
But let's zoom in and break this one down right now.
Here we go.
Alright, so let's learn the song portion as opposed to the lick.
Make sure you see my other video that teaches that intro lick.
And let's get right into the song.
It's all based off of a D chord.
_ And if [Dm] we take our middle finger off of the D chord, we have a D add 9.
And that, it _ _ adds that kind of airy, moody feeling to the chord.
And we need a little [C] lick.
We pull on the third fret of the A, _ [D] _ then the open D, _ [F] then third on D with a little nudge.
[Dm] _ _ [Am] And then, [Dm] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _
_ then _ _ _ _ _ the [N] progression. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] _ _ [N] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ And _ _ [G] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [B] so we're strumming along, we do the [D] D chord. _
And _ that's a classic little D [D] move right there.
Pinky to the third of the high E.
_ [A] Off, then middle finger open, then [D] back on.
So. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [F] _ _
[G] So we go this chord, which I've got third fret B, third fret high E.
And then these two fingers here, so third of the A, second of the D. _
So that's called a C add 9, then a G.
_ [G] _ _
Again.
_ _ And then while you're on that G, you do G, [F] F, [D] D.
And however you can play F, do it.
I'm playing it with ring on the third, pinky on the third, [F] middle on the second, index on the first.
[D] _ _ _ [F] _ _ [D] _ So from the top.
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Em] And so there's another little lick I'm throwing in there that's hammering on the open A string [B] to the second fret, _ [D] and then the open D.
_ So watch that. _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [F] _ [D] One more time. _ _
_ _ [G] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ [D] _ _ _
_ [C] So then you've got I'm a cowboy, that part, which is going to be a regular C chord.
[G] To G, _ [F] then F, D, [C] C, [G] G.
_ [D] _
_ _ _ [C] So that little lick.
_ [Dm] _
[D] With the D chord.
[G] C, G, _ F [D] to the D, [C] C, [G] G, then the [Dm] lick.
You _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _
_ [D] can do that lick again.
[F] _ [D] _ _
_ [G] C, G, with the lick now.
_ [Dm] _ _
[D] _ _ [C] _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[D] _ _ _ [C] _ _ _ [D] _ _
_ [Dm] _ _ _ _ [G] _ [Dm] You know, into the lick. _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ So those are the main parts of the song.
_ There's a guitar solo.
Basically it repeats the little end section a bit.
[G] C, G. _
_ [D] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ _ [D] _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
_ [Dm] _ [C] So that's how the chorus typically goes.
It doesn't do, you know, it does C, G, F, D, [G] C, G, then [Dm] the lick.
[D] But then the repeat, [G] C, G, then the lick.
[Dm] _ _
_ [C] And then one other thing, the ending of the song goes_
_ [Dm] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _
_ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
_ [Dm] _ _ So it's doing the lick, and it alternates between _ the D, and then the lick, _ _ [G]
to G, then the lick.
[D] _ Then the lick.
[G]
G, then the [Dm] lick.
_ [D] _ _ And so forth and so on.
So be sure to look for the other video that teaches that finger picking intro.
And good luck.
Alright, there it was.
Thank you so much.
