Brian May home & studio chords
Start Jamming...
[E] Well, [G] I'm just a few miles away from London but it feels like I'm in the middle of the
countryside.
This is home to Brian May, the Queen guitarist and Anita Dobson.
And Brian's
invited us here today to take a look at where he's based, to look at his home [E] and also to
chat about his new third [Ab] solo album.
Let's go inside.
Well, here we are in your garden.
It's [Bm] beautiful out here, isn't it?
Yeah, [Fm] this is my escape from the world.
When you're not [N] working on the album, what do you do to switch off?
Or do you switch off?
Do you switch off?
That's the question, isn't it?
To be truthful, I find it very hard to switch off.
I'm the kind of person who has things
going round here the whole day and the whole night.
So I'll go to bed with a tune in the
head and it'll still be there in the morning.
And sometimes it's a kind of, it's almost
like a kind of illness.
It becomes so intense that it's very uncomfortable.
It might be
just a couple of bars that are going round in your head and it [G] drives you nuts.
[Dm] [E]
I just had a wander around your garden.
Where are we now?
What's this little
This is kind of the middle.
This is the hallway.
Yeah.
It's very romantic.
Do you spend a lot of time here?
Do you play
the piano a lot here?
Yes, this is our touring piano, actually.
This is Freddie's piano.
Is it really?
It is a [B] good one.
It's beautiful, isn't it?
I've been all round the world a few times.
What sort of influence has Freddie left on
you, or had on you?
Freddie's very much in mind the whole time.
I don't know how to put it into words.
He's just kind of there.
A big part of our lives
for such a long time.
And I think there are always points where I want to kind of show
it to Fred, like you do to your parents or something.
Like say, look what I've done.
[Bm] Show us [G] gold.
[Em] Ooh, it's like my heart is breaking.
[Gb] But they can't make me blame [Em] you.
But my smile [E] [Bm] still stays on.
Now you've just [N] got your third solo album coming out.
Tell us a bit about it and the
inspiration behind this one.
What was the question?
The inspiration behind it.
The inspiration is, I suppose, life, really.
I'm always struggling to sort of make sense of life, my life and people around me, and
the way I see it.
And that's basically what I write about.
Well, I think what we'll do is we'll move up to your studio and have a peek at where
all this album happened.
Yeah, OK.
Which is just upstairs, [F] isn't it?
OK, let's head off there.
[Bb] In another world, [Gm]
[C] under another [F] sky.
[Dm]
This is your studio.
[N] So show us what you do then.
This is amazing.
Well, this is a great writing tool, which a lot of people use these days.
You can use
this to do piano if I want.
You can make a piano sound [F] or a string or something.
But
it can also do like the drum track if you want it to, because you can have [G]
all this
stuff in here and you can program it on here.
This is a [B] click I can work with.
[Ab] So if there's
an idea, you can just go.
[F] And then this thing is all about bringing it back [G] up and mixing
it together.
This is the [D] final mix.
You [Gm] can believe I'll [C] meet you here [Bb] in another world.
[Gm] [C] [F] [N]
