Hi guys, [B] I'm Charles Brownstein from Northern Transmissions [F#].com.
Thank you as always for checking out Records [B] in My Life.
This episode features Ryan [C#] Lindsay [A#m] from Broncho.
Let's see which albums [D#m] he's picking.
[B] [F#] I'm Ryan from Broncho and this is Five Records in My Life for Northern Transmissions.com.
The first one I picked was [B] Grinder Man, [F#] mainly because I know Pussy Blues.
Love that song.
[B] Have you guys heard that song?
No Pussy Blues.
[C#]
Look Up Hen playing it on Jules Holland, [D#m] the live version is like my favorite.
[B] You [F#] can find that on the internet.
[B] Pretenders, when I [F#] first started driving, there's this girl that [B] I like and we kind
of, [F#] we didn't really date but I had like the biggest crush on her and she [B] gave me this
[F#] tape that had Brass in Pocket on it and that was the first time [B] I'd ever heard the Pretenders
and [D#m] it just killed [C#] me.
Still does to this day.
[D#] Back to Ohio is [A] a great song, I [B] definitely love this [F#] record, but Brass in [B] Pocket.
[F#] Precious, Precious also is a, I love [B] her.
[C#] Double Fantasy, I love Double [G] Fantasy.
I like the play in between the two.
[D#m] [B] There's [F#] Watchin' the Wheels, it's one of my favorite songs.
All the Yoko stuff I love too.
It's just, this is a record that I've been listening [B] to for 10 [F#] years or so when I first found this.
[G] Growing up there was always Beatles [B] stuff in my house but [C#] [F#] there was never really any
just solo stuff, even like Wings or any of that stuff, I never really heard that.
Wings was purely on the radio.
[B] I would hear Paul McCartney solo [C#]
only through the radio but in my house it was [D#m] always just
the Beatles as [Bm] far as [F#]
the Beatles go.
[B] But John Lennon, I really [C#] like all his solo records, [D#] big fan.
The Cars, [C#] it's [F#] like one of my all time faves.
I got this CD in my car [B] and I used to listen to it all the time, Good Times For All.
[C#]
[A#m] [D#m] So classic, [B] Good Times For All, kills [F#] me, just kills me.
[G#] Dire Straits.
[F#] This record, [B] [F#]
this is a lot of the Dire Straits stuff.
[B] There's songs that I don't, [F#]
I didn't necessarily know they were the Dire Straits [B] until later
in life when I kind of put it [F#] all together.
But Money For Nothing was a song that I didn't even know who the Dire Straits were but I
[C#] watched that video all the time when I was a little kid [D#m] on MTV.
[C#] And I [F#] really, it's kind of the same with [B] The Pretenders, me [F#] putting it together later.
Dire Straits was kind of the same way for me.
Like I heard something and that song lived with me for a long [B] time and then I eventually
[F#] put it all together.
[C#] But I love this record [D#m] and I also loved [Bm] Weird [F#] Al's version.
Did he do a [B] version of Money For Nothing?
Yeah, [C#] it was I Want My MTV.
He did it [D#m] for this movie, [B] [F#]
no, Beverly Hillbillies.
Have you heard [B] that version?
The [D#] remake of [C#] the movie that just came out?
No, he did it for this [A#m] movie called [C#] UHF that he [F] filmed in Tulsa.
[F#m] And he parodied Money For Nothing with, [G] instead of I Want My [F#] MTV, it was Beverly Hillbillies.
That's pretty funny actually.
So he asked Mark Knopfler if he could use it and he said, you can only use it if you
let me play the riff.
So Mark Knopfler played the actual riff.
That's kind of cool.
[B] He's cool.
[F#] So this is the five records in my life.
Sweet.
I might have to [B] watch him do the shift match.
[C#] That's what I was thinking.
I was like, what?
[D#m] That's just [Bm] funny.
