That was like it for [G] me.
guys growing [D] up.
progressive.
what it is.
that I'm doing this to this day is
[G] know, they always tell you, don't mute your heroes kind of thing.
[D] I mean the guys are
do you like about Brooks and Dunn?

That was like it for [G] me.
Brooks and Dunn was, that [C] was my thing.
Those were my guys growing [D] up.
Still are, but when they were coming out, [G] it was like a very, their sound was very progressive.
But to me, that was like my first experience with country music.
To me, that's what it is.
That's it at its best and that's what it should be.
I think [D] their influence is one of the main reasons that I'm doing this to this day is
the impact that they had on me from such a young age.
You [G] _ _ know, they always tell you, don't mute your heroes kind of thing.
I don't necessarily buy into that.
I wanted to hang with Kix and Ronnie and sing a song with them.
And [D] I mean the guys are
living legends, like without a [G] doubt.
Someone was asking me, what do you like about Brooks and Dunn?
A couple [C] weeks ago.
It's like [D] hamburgers.
Everybody loves hamburgers.
[G] Everybody loves Brooks and Dunn.
[C] They're like, why do you love them?
I just do.
There's nobody that [D] likes country music that doesn't like Brooks and [G] Dunn.
_ Their music absolutely has [C] had a tremendous impact on [G] the stuff that I have out now.
I [C] really miss the 90s like [G] foot stomping stuff.
But like when I think of it, it's like the Brooks and [D] Dunn foot stomping.
Like they, to me, invented [G] that sound.
That [C] fast, like driving.
[G] See, hard-working man.
Right [C] there, there's loud guitars, [G] four on the floor drum, just going at it.
That definitely has an [D] impact on my music. _
_ _ [G] _ For a cover that, you know, we did live, it kind of [D] sparked the idea for this whole project, [G] which has turned into,
you know, a super awesome duets album with
people who actually grew up listening to Brooks and Dunn.
They've got, you know, Kacey Musgraves and Ash McBride and Joe Hardy hanging [C] around.
And it's like we're all
[G] in that age bracket where
their music was [D] so influential to us.
And we get to come in,
[G] sit with these guys and bounce ideas off of them,
sing with them in the studio and hang out with them.
Like that's just [D] a once-in-a-lifetime
[G] experience.
