Bruce and Dylan Guthro: Carrickfergus + interview at Tønder festival chords
Jam Along & Learn...
Sunset Boulevard, [E] Old Fabriken, DPA Microphones.
I played my first gig here at Tuna Festival with Run Rig years and years ago,
13 years ago or something like that.
[Gb] And eventually developed into a solo career and started coming [Dbm] over here as a solo artist as well as with the band.
[N] And so 13 years of hanging and drinking and partying and singing with Hugh Daines.
And when [G] did your son jump along?
This is his second time here.
[D] Actually, Run Rig's guitar player had some medical complications last year and [C] we had to cancel the date.
So [D] Dylan and I flew over and just kind of filled in and sang some songs.
That was last year or the year before last?
[E] Last year.
[Db] So Karsten said, bring him [Ab] back.
Come on over and bring him back this [E] year.
So here we are.
Great.
So [D] maybe it's going to be a bit of a tradition.
We don't know yet, [E] but maybe we hope so.
[D] I hope so.
We have fun.
He likes it here.
I like it here.
Great.
[E] And recording?
You do any recording?
Yeah, I just finished recording a [D] Celtic record in Ireland with [Eb] Donald Lunney [D] producing.
Soon [Db] to be released here in mid-October, I think.
[G] It's called Celtic Crossing.
Dylan's working on producing his record [Ab] right now.
We're working on that in Nova Scotia.
[Fm] So that should be out soon as well.
[A] Yeah, always recording.
[Ebm] Something to look forward [F] to.
[G] So you're [Ab] going to play a few songs for us.
We will try.
But before, I don't know if you're into that, but I'm just going to offer you a little bit of snack.
Okay, you want to set us on fire.
It's actually a very Danish [G] thing.
Cheers, everybody!
[N]
Are [Abm] we supposed to eat these before we sing?
Probably not what you would normally do. What?
[Gm] [Eb] [Ab]
[E] [A] Isn't that something?
[F] [G] Alright.
[G]
[E] [G]
[Eb] [C] I'm going to pour my heart out to you here for five minutes.
If you could be quiet, that would be [Db] awesome.
I'd greatly [Ab] appreciate it.
This is a song called Carrick Fergus Off, my new record to be released [F] in mid-October here [Ab] in Denmark.
And you can all go out and buy one.
They make great [Fm] Halloween gifts.
You can give them to all the kids at Halloween [Ab] too.
Here we go.
I wish [Bbm] I was
[Eb] in [Ab] Carrick Fergus
[Fm] [Bbm] Only four nights [Eb] in [Ab] Ballygran.
I would swim [Bbm] over the [Eb] deepest ocean
[Fm] Only [Bbm] four nights [Eb] in [Ab] Ballygran
But the sea is wide
And I [Eb] can't swim over
And [Fm] neither have I
[Db] The wings [Eb] to fly
I wish [Bbm] I could find me
[Eb] A [Ab] handsome boat
To [Fm] [Db] ferry me over
[Bb] [Eb] My [Ab] love and I
[Db] [Ab] [Eb] For it's in [Bbm]
Kilkenny
[Eb] It [Ab] is reported
[Fm] On [Bbm] marble stonehen
[Eb] As [Ab] black as yeast
With [Bbm] gold and silver
[Eb] I [Ab] did support her
[Fm] But I'll [Bbm] sing no more now
[Eb] Till I [Ab] get drunk
I'm drunk today
And I'm [Eb] seldom sober
[Bb] A handsome [Fm]
rover
From [Db] town [Eb] to town
Ah, but [Bbm] I'm sick now
[Eb] And my [Ab] days are numbered
So [Fm] come [Bbm] all you young men
[Eb] And [Ab] lay me down
[Db] [Ab] Mr.
Dillon got through.
Go on.
[Bbm]
[F] [Eb] [Bb]
[Fm] [Db]
[Ab] [Eb] [Ab]
But the sea is wide
And I [Eb] can't swim [D] over
[A] And neither have I
[Ab] The wings to fly
I wish [Bbm] I could find me
[Eb]
A handsome boatman
[Fm] To [Bbm] ferry me [Db] over
[Eb]
My love and I
[F]
[N]
Sing!
Sing!
Boom!
