_ _ [C#] _ _ _ [C#m] _ _ [C] _
_ [G] _ _ _ [N] _ Hey you doing guys?
Andy with you for another nail guitar song lesson.
Today we're taking
a look at Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe.
We're looking at this on the electric guitar.
If you want to learn it on the acoustic and play it solo, check out the other lesson that
I have for that.
This one is going to teach you how to play it in a band sense, playing
the electric, playing exactly what is in the song.
So, if you want to do the electric,
let's move into it.
What have we got happening in this song?
It's pretty straight ahead.
There's not a lot going on there.
We've got a verse section, a chorus section, and a little
extra guitar that comes over the second chorus.
That's about it though.
So, _ here's what we
got. _
_ [C] _ _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ [C] _
_ _ [A] _ _ _ _ That is our verse.
So that is 3rd fret on the A [Fm] string, and we're just going to pummel
that out.
1 and 2 and 3 and [N] 4 and, then the same on the open D string.
1 and 2 and 3 and
4 and.
Keep that going through, and then we've got a tiny little break before we kick into
the chorus.
If [F] you have two guitarists, you can have the other [A] guitarist do the little _
stringy line, which is the 3rd fret on the B and the E strings.
Like a little G [G] chord.
_ _ [A] And all of this is palm [E] muted.
If you need some help with your techniques, check out
my other channel that I've got, Now Guitar Skills, which helps you with all those skills.
But it's palm muted, [G] so yeah.
_ So you can split that up between the guitars if you like.
Here
is the chorus like I was playing at the start there.
It is power chords.
[C] We've got C, G,
D and E are our power chords.
So, I'll play that through.
_ [G] _ _ [D] _ _ _ [C] _
_ [G] _ _ [D] _ [B] So these are the notes that
we're going to be playing.
We're going to be moving between [C] 3rd fret on the A, which
is our C.
We're just going to go single notes to start [G] with.
Then G, which is 5th fret on
the D string.
Then D, which [A] is the 5th fret right above it on the A [D] string.
And the other
note that we've got [E] is E up on the 7th fret.
And then we're just going to be [A] playing power
chords off of these notes.
So, if you're not familiar with power chords, very simple
idea.
You [N] take the given note that you're making a power chord off of and then you add
another note, which is going to be down a string, up 2 frets.
And that's consistent.
You move that shape around.
So it's always down a string, up 2 frets.
So, here's what
we're going to get.
We're going to get 2 hits on [C] C. _
[G] G, D, D.
[D] _ _ E, C, C.
[C] _
_ [G] G, D, D again.
[D] _ _ [C] And
that's your loop.
That's what you do each time.
So we get C, C.
_ G, D, D.
[D] _ _ _ [E] E, C, C.
[C] _
_ [G] G,
D, D.
[Fm] Put it all together.
Do it without any stops.
2, 3, play with me.
2, [C] 3, 4.
C, [G] G,
D, D.
_ [E] E, C, C.
[C] _
[G] G, D, D.
[G#] Come here, baby.
Alright.
That is what's happening for your [C#] chorus.
A little extra line that I was talking about is [G] this.
_ _ _ [B] _ _ [G] _ _
[Bm] _ _ _ _ [G#] _ [G] And that is E string, 15th fret.
_ _ _ 14, 15 on the B.
_ _ [A] And then from there, 14 on the G, _ 12 on the [G] B, 12 on the G.
_ _ [C#] _
_ _ [B] _ [G] _ Second time
through, almost [D#] the same but the last note.
[F#] _ _ _ _ [A] And then back to 14 _ on the G.
_ [F#] _ _ _
_ So just that
last note that changes.
If you need help, I forgot to mention at the start, I've got
a chart [N] there to guide you through so you don't have to come back and watch again and
again.
There goes a beepy alarmy thing so that means it's around about the end of the
lesson.
