Story too
How [Ab] much time do we have?
I'll make it I'll make it brief.
Um, I was living in River City
I called my friends say let's go to the Fillmore and see if we could sit in and
Michael Bloomfield was playing with Stephen Stills and Al Cooper and
Everybody said no I borrowed my father's car.
I went up there
Before I could think twice, you know, [Eb] I walk in go straight to the [Am] stage put on Michael's
Puffs I said, hey man, I'm a drummer.
I [C] think I could sit in and so I just I was just doing [Ab] it
So I could say to myself at least you tried and waiting for the kick in the face, [Eb] you know
But [C] he got it
He [Ab] said oh man, the drum is a really nice guy.
Let me go ask him
And the next thing I know I was on the stage playing at the Fillmore which was Mecca and
[D] [F] Again like post [Ab]-traumatic stress.
I don't remember anything
[Eb]
[Ab] What's wrong with me?
I don't remember anything back.
So
backstage backstage
I'm there and and Stan Markham and David Brown the manager of the bass player
[A] Santana were there and they said
[Abm] We heard you play [Ab] and we're thinking about getting another drummer
and
Can we get your number?
So I gave them the number.
I never heard from him.
[A] Saw him again at a dance thing
at Woodside High School [G] in River City and then later [Ab] like a year and a half long
I
Walked into this recording [A] studio that I was always [G] hustling time in called Pacific Recorders [Eb] in San Mateo and El Camino
[Gb] Literally I'm walking in it's like late at night the drummer and Santana doc
[Ab] Was walking out the door and we passed each other
They were recording their first record for Columbia
Couple of those guys remember [C] me from that night and said whoa
you want [Ab] to jam and
You know, it's Carlson Reagan everybody and so we played
And
And Carlos and Greg took [Eb] me in another room afterwards [C] and they said
[N]
They literally followed me home to [Ab] my parents house
Waited outside.
Well, I woke up my folks and [Eb] said
I'm moving back to [N] the city
You know, they're like rolled over
[F] I'm kidding.
But again, I left and drove up with them to the [D] mission to Burrill [B] Heights
[N]
