In 1910, the first professional Southern Gospel Quartet was formed.
Early quartets were originally all male, but over time, full bands were added and yes,
even women.
Southern Gospel came to be known as a mix of black gospel-influenced songs, traditional
hymns, country gospel, and bluegrass.
The influence of early groups is still felt today, and it is this remarkable heritage
that has paved the way for most all of us here.
To these artists, we pay tribute tonight.
This is going to be awesome.
Celebrating 100 years of Southern Gospel music, please welcome the Blackwood Brothers.

He [E] was no longer [E] in that grave.
If [B] you knew him, [A] I [E] can't know him.
You [B] wouldn't know that [A] [E] he's alive.
[Dbm] If you felt [E] him, like [A] I feel him.

[Fm] Then my [Bb] frustration gets so [Eb] out of hand.
Oh, it's then I [Bb] am reminded [Cm] I've never been [Eb] forsaken.
I've never had to stand one [Ab] day alone.
[Bb] That's when I look out over the big [Fm] trees.
And [Bb] I'm reminded all God's done for me.
[Ab] It's through the fire, [Bb] my weakness, [Eb] it makes true [Ab] all.
[Bb]
[Eb] He never promised that the cross would not get heavy.
[Ab] And the hill would not [Eb] be hard [Ab] to climb.
