Hi guys, welcome to this easy lesson which is for Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.
I really like this song and I also really like this version of it because it's so easy to play.
You'll have it down in no time.
So I'm going to teach you how to play the entire song right here, right now on YouTube.
If you like that, please let me know by giving it a thumbs up.
And it will also help to put up more lessons for Snow Patrol if you like that as well.
For now, let's get right into it.
[Ab]
[A]
Okay, so please have a look above the piano for the chords right there.
You can see A5, E slash G sharp, D sus2 and A5 again.
So if you don't know anything about these chords, if you don't know what that is,
that's absolutely fine.
Just relax because I'm going to teach you what to play anyway.
But if you want to learn a little bit more about it,
please have a look in the description box down below
for my basic piano chord lesson where I will explain a little bit more about those chords.
For now, the left hand is going to be [E] playing A and E together for the A5 chord.
G sharp and E [D] for E slash G sharp.
A and D for D sus2 [A] and then A and E for A5 again.
Okay, so just play that.
[E]
[D]
[A]
Now the right hand is just going to play two things.
A and E [Eb] and G sharp and E.
[A] You'll play A and E [E] for A5, G sharp and E for E slash G sharp
and then A and E for both D sus2 and A5 again.
Okay, so just play [A] them once and
[C]
play A and E again [A] and then A and E again.
Okay, now play the pattern.
[A]
Okay, now it may sound a little bit weird on the third chord.
Why is [D] that?
Because it's a D sus2 chord.
So you need to have that D right [A] here in order to have that D chord in there.
Okay, that's why the left hand is actually playing that.
So now if we combine them
[Ab]
[A]
just like that.
Okay, now later on the song if you want to make it sound a little bit cooler
you can play octaves on your left hand.
[Ab]
[A]
Or you could play chords in the right hand.
[E]
[D]
[A]
Or you could make it a little bit more dry and go up here.
[Eb]
[D]
[A]
Okay, all I'm doing right now is just repeating all of those chords
in the correct order for the correct amount of time.
Okay, that's all I'm doing and I'm just improvising whether I play it here or there or there or there.
So it's all up to you.
You can just play the basic.
Play that for the entire song.
Or you can start right here and then [E]
[F] switch it off a little bit.
You can do the acoustic and high and dry.
You can do all kind of stuff you want.
That's why I like this song so much.
You can really make it into your own version.
But you can also just decide to play that original [A] bit by just playing it right here.
[N]
Okay.
