[D]
[C]
[D] bang out those headphones and let [Dm] the world fall [D] into you.
Throw up those glasses and [C] then you'll [A] start seeing [D] a shot of those battles.
Everyone, they mean nothing to you.
No, you don't lie and just [C] smile.
You'll start seeing [Bb] it all.
[Dm] The [G]
pain and the [Dm] emotions.
Someone [Bb] out [F] on the [G]
sidelines.
[Dm] Everyone, just [Bb] feel [F] it.
It takes [G]
over and it [Dm] has no fear.
When [Bb] you call, [F] swing the [G]
signal at [D] the Lord.
Come on!
Shout out!
Everyone, that means nothing to you.
Praise to the moon and the [C] sun.
You'll [Dm] start seeing [D] a shot of those ghouls with their talk.
It's far too negative.
They love your smile.
[C]
You'll [D] start seeing [Bb] it all.
[Gm] The pain and the [Dm] emotions.
Someone [Bb] out on the [Gm]
[Dm] sidelines.
Just [Bb] feel it.
[G] It takes [Gm] over and it [Dm] has no fear.
When [Bb] you call, swing the [Gm]

[G]
[Dm] Hey!
[D] [G]
Everyone up here [D] on top.
[A]
To the side.
[G]
To this side.
[G]
[A] Brothers and sisters in the name of the Lord.
[D] [A] [C]
[D] So [Bb] we're up in the [Gm] heaven and [Dm] the atmosphere.
So [Bb] we're out among [Gm] the silence.
There's [Dm] a voice.
Just [Bb]
feel it.
It [Gm] takes over and it [Dm]
has no fear.
When [Bb] you call, swing the [Gm] signal at [D] the Lord.
Guitar!

[Bb]
[G]
[D] So [Bb] we're out beneath the heaven and [Dm] the atmosphere.
So [Bb] we're out among [Gm] the silence.
[Dm] There's a voice.
How are you?
[Bb] Just feel it.
It takes over and [Dm] it has no fear.
When [Bb] you call, swing the [D] signal at the Lord.
You [Bb] just call, swing the [Gm] signal at [Dm] the Lord.
So I'm [B] here at the Orpheum Theatre today and [G] I wanted to show you guys a run-through of [B] my symbols that I'm using [D] on the Simple Minds tour.
So I'll start from the left.
So [E] first of all, we have the K Dark Crash Medium [Gb] Thin, which is a 17 [N]-inch.
Now I love Ks.
Ks are always, you know, like I always have a K in my set-up.
They're dark and lovely and they have really [G] nice tones to them.
And they just sound great.
They're very versatile.
You can use it in all sorts of music.
And it works well in some of the songs, with the Simple Minds songs.
So for my hi-hats, I'm using, they're 15 inches and they're from the 70s.
And I think they're an A model, so 70s A hi-hats.
They just sound amazing.
You know, they're very well balanced, not too brash, not too bright.
It's sort of got the mids covered really well.
And they just sound great, the old cymbals.
So I always try and incorporate that within my set-up.
So that's my hi-hats.
And then the same thing for my rides.
This is a 70s A ride.
[C] And again, it just works [G] really well with the Simple Minds sound.
A lot of their stuff was recorded in the 70s and 80s.
And I find this stuff just works.
It just suits the music.
[Ab]
[N] You can't beat the old stuff.
You really can't.
It sounds great.
For my crashes, I use A Custom crashes.
My main two crashes.
So this is a 16-inch and an 18-inch.
I did used to use bigger crashes, 17 and 19,
but I found the small ones have a faster response,
which I preferred for this kind of music.
It just worked better.
So they're also great because they cut through the mix really well.
So Front of House engineers really like me using these.
You know, when you hear it, you hear it in the mix.
It's not going to get muddied with all the other frequencies.
So they make very, very good crashes.
And they're very versatile as well.
You can use them in all different musical settings.
But it works for this one.
So [B] last but not least, we have my sizzle cymbal.
[N] Now, sizzle cymbal, I will always have in my arsenal
because you can always use it, you know,
like particularly in ballads or the slower songs.
They always just sound really great.
And you only need to hit it like once, and it just works.
You know, it sounds great.
So this is actually an A Custom, and it's a 17-inch [Eb] crash.
[B] And I put holes in it and put rivets in it
because I did actually have a 19-inch sizzle ride [Ab] that I was using,
but it was a bit too big.
[B] And because I'm now [D] using smaller cymbals,
I wanted this to be small as well.
And I don't think there was one [A] that was available at the time from Zildjian.
So [N] I got this cymbal and put the holes in it and the rivets.
And yeah, like it sounds brilliant.
It's also good for when you're swirling in the [Db] song,
you know, doing swirls.
It works really well as well.
