[Abm] Hello there, I'm Julie [E] and it's time for another The Chord of [F] the Week.
[N] Thank you for watching.
I'm here to remind you that everyone plays lead and they love it, but chords are cool.
This week's chord is E over [E] G sharp.
We're playing it up high too.
This is another [Bbm] inversion
where we take a note in the [E] chord that's not the root and put it in the bass.
So we have
the G sharp in the bass for this one.
[C] Here's our trusty [N] chord diagram.
[E]
How do you play
[N] E over G sharp?
Use your third finger on the 11th fret of the 5th [Ab] string.
This G sharp
is the third of the chord [Bb] and it's also in the bass.
[Fm] Then you're going to use your first
finger to bar [Db] on the 9th fret.
So play [B] B, that's the 5th of the chord, that's on the
4th string.
[Bb] [E] Then E, [Bb] that's the root, that's going to be on the 3rd string.
And then G
[Dbm] sharp again, the 3rd of the chord, is on the 2nd [E] string.
Gets a nice sound.
[Abm] So some of
you, if you're [B] beginners, you might have a little trouble holding down all of those
strings with one finger.
It might take a [Dbm] while to build up the strength.
[N] But just keep playing.
You can actually move [E] the shape around [D] to [C] [D] [E]
[Bb] [C] [D] [E]
help you.
But [Bb] you also might have a little
trouble holding that G sharp and [B] not muting out the 4th string.
[E] So curve your finger around.
Also when you're holding down a chord like this, [N] make sure your finger does not, the
you get way more strength if you keep your knuckle [Bb] bent.
[E]
So you can hear E over G sharp
and listen to the music by the Doobie Brothers.
