Sorry, that was very feminine of me.
Hello!
Are we at a football game or are we at Download?
Wow.
We could be at Bonneville.
It's so good to have you here back at Download.
And you seem really happy to be here as well this year.
It is our first time in five years being here.
Well, six years, I guess, depends on how you break it up.
But we were supposed to be here in 2020.
Obviously, it didn't happen.
Yeah.
Here we are.
Very, very [Em] happy.
And it's nice because [A] we've obviously [E] chatted over the years here, there and everywhere.
And I feel [G] like you're a band that have [Bm] constantly done this, right?
But you've had even more of a surge recently.
And what I find quite [F] brilliant is [E] a lot of that has happened on TikTok, [D] right?
There [Eb] has been a large, I guess, [B] influence towards the band because of TikTok.
Like, I think bands can either choose to embrace it or not.
And I think we're a band that has a sense of humor and loves to either, you know,
make our own version of the trends or try to make our own funny videos out of our songs.
And that's just stuff that people really like to see.
So it's helped a lot.
Absolutely.
Because at the moment, Slaughterhouse is trending.
There's a dance.
Is that right?
There was a, yeah, actually, we were here.
We [A] were touring in the UK and Europe with Bare Tooth a couple months ago.
[G] And I just opened TikTok and I was like,
why do I keep seeing these videos where [N] people are doing this dance to Slaughterhouse?
And then I investigated.
It was like, there are so many people that have no idea who we are or what this song even is that are doing it.
I, you know, I have to, I have to [A] clarify.
It's not an original dance that was created for the song.
I guess it's just kind of like a, like a generalized dance that people do for different songs.
I found that out after the fact.
And I was like, OK, well, maybe it's not as cool,
but it's still cool that people that don't know the band are discovering it because of this [B] funny thing that makes no sense with the [F] song.
And I just, I had to do [Eb] my own version in a funny way.
So it's it was a really, really [C]
interesting moment [D] that the heaviest song on our album had the girly pop or whatever [G] it's called, dance on TikTok.
And [A] that's why I really love what you're doing in the scene and what you're doing through social media,
because I know we've spoken in the past about how social media can [G] be negative.
Right.
But I feel like what you've done is you've created this safe space, [A] especially for female and female presenting people where,
and there are a lot of [D] female fans in the industry who are often looked down on in heavy music.
And now you've created this [F] space where they can girly dance and do all of that.
And you've not only just encouraged that you embrace it as part of your band identity, which is.
I'm happy that that's recognized.
We have always, forever and always been a band that has just been about everyone's welcome,
completely inclusive, and it's just there's no judgment towards anything about you.
I guess, you know, it's weird to say [N] that because there are certainly people that we don't want around or don't want interested in our band that are,
you know, not people that have beliefs or ideas that we agree with.
But we try to just leave our music and the band open to everyone and want to be a band that people know that you're welcome.
You are safe here.
We're going to look out for you.
And, you know, we're writing songs about this shared experience that we're all having, which to me is the most powerful version of music that,
I guess, you know, creates that bond with with the fans and us.
And it's been a really, really awesome experience.
That's so powerful.
It is really powerful.
As someone who's sometimes not felt welcome at gigs, it's really powerful to have that from somebody in a band, especially with TikTok, because you are active on TikTok.
What would you say your favorite trend has been from the past few years?
[Gm] Are you have you got emotional damage or do you like corn?
Mine would probably be the Chrissy [F] wake up.
Chrissy [D] wake up!
I don't like this.
I actually did a [G] video where I had a crowd [N] do that with us and it got so much hatred.
And I was just like it like I get people are exhausted with it at that point.
And I don't like negativity on our on our social.
So I deleted the video to like stop just being having any platform for negativity to exist.
But it was it was such a fun trend that I love seeing all the different ways people did it.
And then runner up is absolutely Uncle Jams.
Uncle Jams.
Uncle Jams.
[D] Uncle Jams.
Yeah, I loved that one so much.
I am [Fm] obsessed.
I'm in love.
That's [D] brilliant.
Just to finish up, because two quick questions I want to ask you.
A.
Have we got any new music expected [G] anytime soon that you can tell us about?
Well, I know you've been doing some collabs and things.
Today is in fact [N] the one year anniversary of our last album.
And we haven't posted it yet.
I don't know when this will will post, but maybe around the same time.
But we are announcing the deluxe edition of our album, which is finally going to be printed on vinyl,
which fans have been asking for for a while.
It will have two new unreleased tracks and two other bonus tracks, like different versions of [F] songs.
So, yeah, that's the first time I get to talk about [A] it.
Yes, exclusive right here.
And just to finish up, because you do have a lot of young fans who are on social media.
I feel like you're a voice for standing up against the hatred that can happen [F] on social media.
You long have been before TikTok.
What advice, as somebody who must get a lot of comments and things like that,
to your young fans who are dealing with any bullying on social and things like that,
do you have any [Bm] advice for them?
I know, like, I'm not saying you're [F] the arbiter of all.
Sure.
I mean, I feel like there's a couple of different ways you could go about it.
I know it's easier said [N] than done to, like, you know, mute it.
Don't pay attention to it.
It's just people that [G] are [Eb] just intentionally trying to [D] f*** with you.
And it doesn't mean anything.
Like, you could say all those things in the world that you want, but the truth is that it does hurt a lot.
And I just feel like [Abm] my go-to answer for this has always been [D] find people.
It's easier now more than ever to find people that share similar interests with you.
[F] You could bond over the simplest things through social media.
And what I [D] love most about our fans is that [G] not only are we an open arms band, but so are our fans.
So, like, [F] there are many bands with fans just like that, where if you just go to these bands' pages and find other fans,
like, you [N] can make friends online that will help be there for you.
And this community has been so positive in that way, [Db] where they will embrace you for [C] anything that is you.
I just tell people to look there [B] and find some friends, find some people that [N] you could build a relationship with through music,
through similar interests, and that's just how I found all my best friends, how I found all these guys in the band.
And that ended up, you know, I won't say [Db] saving my life, but, like, changing my life in a way where [D] I don't know [Db] what it would have been
if I didn't have those resources and meet these [F] people.
So, definitely look to [Bb] your similar interests, go to [D] platforms that are hosting that, and just try your best to reach out to others
[N] and find that, push in that direction, and try your best to just mute, turn off, [G] look the other way to people that are harassing you,
bullying [D] you, because they're just doing it because they hate themselves.
That's really beautiful.
Thank you for sharing that with us, because I think it can be a very lonely time,
and to know that other people go through it, and to know it's there.
Find your tribe, because they are out there.
Chris, thank you so much for chatting to us.
We look forward to the vinyl.
Thanks for having me.
And we'll speak to you again soon.
Thank you.

_ Mine would probably be the Chrissy [F] wake up.
Thank you. _ _ _
