So I've decided to come out of hiding and initiate something somewhat of a more intimate relationship with whoever is out there.
I mean, right now I'm looking at a camera and I'm sitting here with two media people, like my media team, and it's kind of like,
Alright, so, hi, whoever you are out there.
Yet, I am planning on sharing more and more of myself.
I'm somewhat reclusive by nature, as any of you who know who I am can probably ascertain by not seeing me publicly too much.
But either way, it's time to come out because there's so many cool things that are going on in my life right now, creatively and otherwise.
There's books and writing and poetry and music and a new CD and some symphonic possibilities and all sorts of things going on.
So I figured this is one opportunity, and I want to share with you a night that I had with Greg Brayden and his wife Martha.
And it was really quite surprising and sort of remarkable.
We got to perform individually and then we got to collaborate on a few things.
So Greg and Martha each did something musical to one of my spoken word pieces.
They of course played together.
Each of us did our thing.
It was wonderful.
And then Martha plays this really lovely music.
She plays piano, she sings, she plays guitar, and then she pulls out the ukulele,
which was this little thing with a big hole in it.
And that was kind of one of my [C] favorite moments of the night, when she was playing the uke and singing to it.
[F] [Dm] [C]
[F] Don't ask me no more favors
Some all-out good deeds I got
I'm crawling on my knees looking
For what lives inside of [Bb] me
I [F] found yours
Lost in time
To set each [Dm] other free
[D] [Bb] [F]
So what I found that was really remarkable was that Greg Brayden, aside from being a brilliant scientist
and just quite a lovely man, he can also play the guitar.
And he's a quite accomplished guitarist, which was amazing to me.
But he pulled out this guitar that was so out of the box.
And I'll let the video explain it to you, but it was such an interesting story behind his guitar.
This guitar has a very, very special story.
And it's because of that story I'm so honored and proud to be up here behind this guitar tonight.
There is not a shred of wood on this guitar.
[Ab] It is made from the recycled blades of military helicopters that have been in battle in [Gb] Afghanistan [Bb] and Iraq.
So truly, truly it is swords in the plowshares, [Em] precisely.
And when I think about what the material in this instrument used to be used for
and when I think of the possibilities of how we're using it right [D] now, I am touched so very deeply.
[Dm] [E]
[Dm] [D]
If I had one chance left to get it right
[F] [Gm] If I had one more day with [Dm] you
[Em] Would I say the [Eb] things I say, would I do
All the [D] things I'm meant to do
[F] [E]
I got [D] to show one of my favorite pieces, which is called Reminders.
And Reminders is simply that.
It's a reminder of who we are.
It's a reminder that love is everything there is.
It's that kind of thing.
Trust.
Trust your feelings.
Trust the God that comes through you and trust in trust.
Have faith.
Have faith in yourself.
Have faith [A] in good and [D] love and destiny.
Have faith in faith.
Believe.
[G] Believe in [D] possibility.
Believe in believing.
[G] And never stop believing.
[D] And remember.
[D] Remember innocence.
Remember where you come from.
And remember to remember.
[C] Know that love [G] is all there is.
[D]
And give thanks.
And then at the end of the night, I even got people dancing, which I thought was pretty fun.
Got people on their feet.
Shared another one of my favorite pieces, which is called The Dancer Inside You,
which is this very kind of lighthearted yet very profound piece
about how to become enlightened in seven minutes.
[Dm] But you'll have to hear the song to catch that part of it.
Everyone knows what it's waiting for.
When a shake comes a-wiggle and a-wiggle it is.
And next thing you know [D] you got dance in your pants.
So give it on [Dm] up.
You'll start to see that you can dance effortlessly.
[G] So anyway, I'm happy to share this with you.
I'm happy to say hello.
And I plan on doing a lot more of this in the future
because I really do want to open up the relationship.
I like people.
I love people.
And I think I spent enough time by myself in my studio for the last four [D] decades.
So I'll be checking you out again, and hopefully you'll be checking me out too.
So take care.
[C] Know that love [G] is all there is.
[A] Give [D] thanks.
[C] Know that love [G] is all there [A] is.
[D] Give thanks.
[C] Know that love [G] is all there is. Give thanks.
Know that love is all there is.
Know that love is all there is.
Give thanks.
Know that love is all there [D] is. Give thanks. Thank you.
