[A] [F]
[A#] [E] got no [D] reflection, I
[F] can't make [G] out [C] now.
[F] [A#]
[E] Immaculate [D] projection, [F#] feels [G#] [F] go round [G] and [C]
round.
[D] [F] [G] In some [A#] ways, I [F#m] think my [E] first record I was reacting against like [F] the urban scene [Am]
I was
living in when I [E] first moved [Bm] back to New York City.
[A] And now I [G] feel a little bit [Am] more like taken in by [E] it.
[Bm]
I don't [E] always,
[A#] I [F#m] could give [E] a chance, [F] just lying in [D] [C] your bed.
[B]
[F] It's a little [G] Mexican theater, I think it's been here since the 40s or something.
I'm not sure if it showed mostly [F] adult [G] movies or something in the last few years until it closed.
It's a pretty weird place to record, it definitely has a vibe.
We've been [A] playing with stuff [Em] showing on the [C] screen half the time, stuff just for the fun of it.
[G] It's just an atmospheric thing, it's quite different than a normal
[Em] recording studio just
by how you [C] respond to the place you are.
We've been up here five weeks, which is [G]
different than my last [E] record which was five months.
[G] We've done, [C] there's going to be 14 [G] tunes on this.
They're all pretty short, [D] like three minutes long.
[C] I really produced it myself with the drummer, [G] Dougie Bowne, who I've worked with for a while,
he's an amazing musician.
[D] And Mark Howard who [C] engineered my first record.

This [F] Terry Incognito [C] is kind of beyond my last two records, it's a little bit personable
[D] like the [E]
last one.
[C]
[Em] I've played more electric [Cm] guitar on [D#] this new one than my first [C] one, but it's [Em] not really
in between the two records, it's more [C] like the next phase [G] for me.

I have to admit to the [E] guitar, I love playing it, I think the music I [Am] grew up on, you know
when I was a kid, or that my parents listened to in the 60s and stuff, it was [E] pretty guitar,
it was sort of the icon [C] [E] of rock and roll and stuff.
But [Am] really, I've learned to [E] play writing songs, and I still think in a way like guitar is
my personal problem.

[A] [E]
Tell me
It's a conflict of, you [D] have this real heavy thing, you're [Am] like weighed [D] by, like this [A] really
like, anything can make you sorrowful, [D] but at the same time it's so beautiful, it's like,
it makes me see someone as what they [A] were like as a kid.
[D]
Ground gears, as [A] you go, with all them secrets [D] that you know
As if to give nothing [A] away, but the signals you [F#m] obey
[G] [D] They're weightless as [A] a child,
[E] falling from a [B]
boat
[D] Helping to your [A] sighs, [E] it's [Bm] only earth [D] and God
[B] Lately with this record I felt [E] sometimes writing [F#] like [B] the most direct things [D] I could that
[A] almost
were so direct it was like scary [E]
or, [F#] I mean [A] it's a little bit of a song that has two messages,
that has a mixed message, it seems [Em] like it's about X,
[F#m] and [B] it's really has [C#] a slightly [D] other,
[A] it's a little bit [E] darker slant, so in a way the tune is really like [Bm] without [F#] fears, you [E] know,
like [A] love without fears, and it's sort of explained in the last [C#] bridge of the tune,
[F#m]
and it's all gun [D] metaphors, [E] like very urgent, [Bm] but like [A] really direct.
Oh, [F#] please,
[D] [G] you [F#m] can make [E] all the decisions, [G]
[F#] you can make [E] all the decisions
I hope to be, [A] you know, I hope to be like [E] evolving, I hope to be learning,
and definitely [G] making a record is always a learning process, there's [A] always mistakes,
there's [C] always some, [C#m] you know, things that work, [A] that teach you something,
but then even the things that work, it's like, what do you do next, you know,
I [E] always want to be exciting myself, I think probably that's because I,
that's [A] why I started playing music in the first place, [D] is to, [E] you know, express what you feel,
and to feel like you're [A] always growing.
All I [F#]
find, [D] you [G] know, [F#] don't ask [E] me for directions,
[G] [B] offer [E] you no [A] infections, all [D] you'll [E] make love is all [F#m] I want,
