[G] Returning to our top story now, the death of Australian rock legend Chrissy Amfled and
our entertainment editor Richard Wilkins is back with us in studio.
Dickie, this is really sad news.
What more do we know?
Well, we know that she's been battling this breast cancer for some [N] time now.
In fact, Chrissy posted on her Facebook page a little while back.
She said, unfortunately, the last 18 months have been a real challenge for me [Eb] having breast
cancer and [Db] MS.
And all the new places that [Ebm] will take you.
You become [N] sadly a patient in a world of waiting rooms, waiting sometimes hours for a result
[Dbm] or an appointment.
[Bb] End of quote.
There was [Gb] some hope that [Ab] the breast cancer was in remission, but it moved on and [A] as we've
learnt today, has taken her life.
Yeah, and only 53.
She had a rough time.
[G] She also battled MS.
Tell us about [Abm] that.
Multiple sclerosis, [C] yeah.
In 2007, [Fm] she [G] actually invited me to interview her and [Ab] told us what was going [Gm] on with her.
[G] I took a photo of myself around and probably took its toll on [Gm] my body.
But [F] they say that that is not the reason.
What was your first reaction when you found out?
I was very angry.
I was terrified.
The show must go on, huh?
[C] Oh yes, and that's the most important [G] thing to me.
[Eb] You know, there's an audience and there's songs to be sung.
And I've got a great team around me.
[G] Yeah, there sure was an audience and some great hits they had as well and plenty of
tributes coming through this afternoon.
That was just after she'd been working, playing the role of Judy Garland in The Boy From [Gb] Oz.
She did the original production with Todd McKinney and then [Ab] 10 years later played opposite Hugh Jackman.
She was fantastic in that too.
Just absolutely perfect.
Yeah, look, plenty of people are saying nice things about Chrissy today as they should.
Jimmy Barnes [Gb] has tweeted, RIP my dear friend Chrissy.
Love you and will miss you.
And Eddie Perfect, Chrissy Amphlet was properly rock.
She won't be forgotten by anyone who values danger, courage and chaos.
What an icon.
The two lads summing [C] up her life and career there pretty [D] accurately I would think.
Just a great talent [Abm] and a [Em] no-nonsense gal.
Yeah, wasn't she great?
And weren't those great [F] songs?
I think we'll be seeing plenty more of those [Em] tributes in the next 24 hours or so.
Dickie, [F] thank you very much for that.
