[Gm] Welcome to [Bb] Eric Blackmon Music.

[F] [Eb] Hi and welcome to my tutorial on how to play [Bm] Sissy Strut by The Meters from 1969 on electric guitar.
This one's going out to my brother Kale out in Seattle.
[B] The guitar is tuned standard [Bb]
EADGBE.
And we'll start with an easy riff that goes like this.
[Eb] [C]
In order to play that riff, we're going to start at fret 5 on the G string.
Go to [Bb] fret 3.
Fret [G] 5 on the D string.
And then we'll [N] take the little finger and go to fret 6 on the [Eb] A string.
And then bend it a little bit like that.
[B] Just pull on it.
And then end up on fret 3 [C] of the A string.
[Eb] Then [C]
[Ab] we'll go to the low [G] E string and play.
[Am] [C]
[G] So that's fret 3.
[A] Fret 5.
[Bm] Fret 3 on the A [C] string.
Back to the low E string.
[A] Fret 5.
[Bm] And then back to the A string.
And fret [C] 3.
[G] So [Am] that's
[C]
So here's the entire thing.
[Eb] [C] [Am]
[Cm] We'll follow that with two chords [G] here at fret 10.
[Bb] [F] [B]
That first chord is a Bb chord formed by barring [B] fret 10 as far as the D, G, and B string are concerned.
[E] And then we're going to bring in the middle finger to fret 11 on the B string and fret 12 on the [Bb] D string.
[Ab] And I'm aiming for those three [Bb] strings.
And that's a down-up.
And [Eb] then we'll go to an F chord by just barring fret 10 as far as the D, G, and B string are concerned.
And we'll strum that [F] up-up.
[Bb] Like that.
So it's
[F] [Bb] [F]
[Gb] Then we'll start our riff again.
So it's
[Eb]
[C] [Am] [C] [Bb]
[F] [C]
[F] [Eb] [C]
[Bb] [G] Next is our bridge riff.
And we'll play it this way.
[C]
[Bb] [C] [Eb]
[B] We'll play that riff by going to fret 5 on the G [Cm] string.
[B] And then [G] to fret 5 on the D string.
So it's
So that's fret 5
5
5
And then we'll go to fret 3 on [D] the G string.
Back to fret 5.
[Em] And back to [Bb] fret 3.
[C] So that's
[G] [Bb]
[Abm] Then we'll break it [Cm] down like this.
[Eb]
[C] For that one, we're going to go to fret 5 on the G string.
Fret 5 on [G] the D string.
Fret 5 again [Cm] on the G string.
[E] Fret 3.
[Bb] And then we'll go down to the A string.
Fret 6.
And end on fret 3 [C] on the A string.
So
[Bm] that's
So the entire thing [G] is
[C]
[Bm] [G] [Eb]
[B] [C] [Bb]
[C]
[B] The last thing we'll need to do is to learn how to strum a chord during the organ solo.
It's E minor 7 flat 5.
[E] [Gm]
And we're going to play it this way.
[G] In order to play that chord, we're holding down the [Ab] G, B, and high E string at fret [Gm] 3.
Barring it like that.
And then we're going to [Ab] bring in a finger to fret 2 on the D string.
And that's [E] our chord.
E minor 7 [Gm] flat 5.
That's
Well, [Bb] alright.
That's how I play Sissy Strut by The Meters on electric [N] guitar.
Thanks for stopping by.
And have a great day.
