What are we doing today?
We're uh, we're gonna record an EP in a day.
[G] [C]
[F] [A] [G]
[C] [F] [A]
[G] [C] [E]
[A] [G] [C]
[F] [A] We're gonna [C] do a hand Super tough.
[F] I'm pretty [C] sure that is the keyboard in the episode if it's always studied from an LP.
[G]
[C] The guys approached me about doing four songs in a day.
I think I sent an email saying, well that's ambitious, like, super ambitious.
[N] But, uh, when I heard, I saw a live performance by them and heard their demos,
I felt that it was definitely possible they were capable of doing that.
We'll do [E] it on the third time, and then the last time, da na na na.
[D]
Na na na.
Cleopatra!
[E] [Dm]
[Bb] [Eb] Let's play with a [Abm] tech deck.
I'm [A] bringing it back.
I'm inspiring.
We were at McDonald's the other day, and somebody just went,
whoosh!
And did a pop show.
And people behind the camera were looking at me, and I'm just,
they're just like, yo, I just get that.
I still suck.
[Eb] [G] [B]
[F] It's [C] exactly what they do.
There's no guitar overdubs.
Just [G] all the bass is done through the guitar, so,
yeah, it's extremely organic.
[Bb] [B] [E]
[D] [E] [B] [Gbm]
That sounds great, man.
I know.
Yeah.
I'm surprised.
That's really
I actually [E] can't believe that we've got a bass on again.
You're just straight up just splitting out the [D] bass, man.
Well, I'm throwing it through, this [Bb] brings it an octave down.
Oh, [A] right, that's, okay.
Because, okay, [E] okay.
[D] I wasn't sure if it would work.
I called Longwood Quade, and they didn't understand what I wanted to do.
The guy on the phone was like, why would you do that?
[D] You just did a bass whistle.
[Fm] I was like, no, no, just [N] wait.
You know we have octave pedals, right?
Yeah.
They're totally, they're benefits to doing, you know,
so many tracks in a short amount of time,
because it eliminates the [B] overthinking that can happen
when you're making a [G] record.
[Gb] [Gm]
There's a lot of just, like, making [Ab] decisions really quickly
and committing to sounds and committing to parts,
[A] and you just kind of go, go, go.
It's really, yeah, [E] extremely organic.
[C] [G] [D]
[A] [C] [G] [Gb]
[B] [G] I'm going to go through that [D] same tune again,
just maybe until, like, the [G] second verse,
and I'm going to check this out [D] now.
Okay.
[E]
[D] There's a lot of energy in there, in the recordings,
especially with them being in the room together,
and the fact that they can play and just look at one another
is, like, a huge part of what they do.
If they were to be split up, multi [C]-tracked,
it wouldn't be nearly as good.
[G] [D]
[A] [C] [D]
[A] The socks are pretty weird when you think about it, you know?
[D] [A]
[F] [D] [A]
[Bm] Rock and roll.
[N] Yeah, so, yeah, ambitious for sure,
but these guys pulled it off really well.
Most of the day was spent on just set up and micing in tones
and getting the actual takes down.
It was, like, three or four takes per track, so
All my love [Ab] gets lost again!
With all [E] my heart and all my youth,
I pray to be as cool as you!
[G] Oh.
So, yeah, they're well rehearsed.
Ready to go.
