Start Jamming...
We just finished up [B] the biggest show that we have ever done by ourselves.
[A]
[Am] [Gm]
[Dm] [G]
[Am]
[E] There's always little [B] technical things that take place, nobody ever sees them.
But when a crowd is as special as what a crowd was tonight, there's just nothing that can really keep you down.
The eternal value of [Bb] nights like tonight, I hope is significant.
Nearly 600 kids we got [Em] sponsored and hearing [N] stories of people at the meet and greet where these songs have been a part of their journey in life and connecting to God.
I mean, that's why you do it, right?
It's just a very special thing to be a part of.
At times in the hecticness and the busyness of what we do, we can forget that.
But when you have a night like tonight, [Ab]
it's at the forefront of your brain how important it is.
We got to fly home for a few hours to go to the CMA rehearsals with Dolly.
[E] And then after that, we got to get on another plane, fly back.
We will arrive at [Bb] around 6.15, 6.20ish.
And then we got to do a show at 7 [D].00.
So it's going to be very tight.
So we got to
on we march.
We've [Ab] done it.
The day has [Cm] begun.
[C] Or has it?
It's time to go back to sleep, actually.
But the good news is, a few [Ab] things.
We're going to be in three states in one day.
We're going to get to see Dolly Harton again.
[C] We're going to get to rehearse God Knows Where Live for the first [Cm] time.
Play a show in Omaha.
And then we're going to get to go back to our own bed [C] in Nashville.
[N]
We thought we were going to board a plane and go straight to Nashville,
but the windshield was broken on the aircraft.
It wasn't broken.
It [D] had low tolerance, so we've just de-boarded, waiting [Bb] for another plane.
[F]
[N]
Not one left but this cancer.
[Eb] [Eb] [Bb]
[Ab] [Db] You're my chick food.
[E] That was impressive.
In like 45 minutes, they found another plane, [B] unloaded this, [B] reloaded this.
[N] And now, we're in Nashville.
I slept hard [Ab] on that flight.
But I'm glad to be back.
It's been a couple of weeks since we've been home.
We're going to be home for six hours.
It's awesome.
[A] If anything, publicists [G] get urgent.
You [N] don't say the word stress.
Publicists don't say stress.
It is the S word to publicists.
Stress.
They missed it.
Sorry.
The football's on.
They missed two extra points today.
That's like a layup in football.
I mean, in basketball.
They did scoot it back a couple of years ago, though, right?
The Titans season is over if they lose this game.
Pretty important.
I don't know if it's as important as the CMAs.
Would you say that this is more important to you than what's happening?
It's at the same level.
Priorities, Mitchell.
But [Bb] maybe in Josh's life, this football game [Cm] is
I said it's as [A] similar as the Porgies.
[Eb] Oh, okay.
Yeah.
We may have to talk about his career.
[Bb]
[F] I [D] love Johnny Cash Hurt.
That song is unreal.
[C] I hope that [N] counts.
I do love that song.
This is interesting because this is actually the room that we [Em] rehearsed
for Burn the Ships, the North American [A] portion of the tour.
[A]
[E]
We're here right now, and then in four hours, we're going to be in Omaha doing that show.
So we're doing interviews here where we rehearse for the show that we're going to play tonight in [C] Omaha.
[N]
Okay, Roland, you've got to run out.
Tell us, first time you walked into the building, thoughts, emotions, Joel?
There's a weird rightness to it.
We're talking about this off camera.
We're Australians, so we're fairly country-moving.
We live in Nashville, the home of country music, and we have country in our band name.
So we were sort of destined in a weird way somehow to be here.
Backstage at the CMA Awards 2019, it's Stormy and for King & Country, Joel and Luke.
Hi, guys.
Stormy.
What a pleasure.
I like the way you say that.
We were trading notes because you have a very unique and awesome first name.
We have a very unique but not awesome last name.
[B] Small balls.
We could spend an hour just going through the [Gb] jokes.
That's right.
Let's [Bb] not.
We've got more serious [Em] things to talk about.
Starting back in [A] Australia and touring Australia and then [Ab] now taking for King & Country,
what is that pin for you guys, [C]
just globally?
[N] I said this a little bit earlier.
The reason why you get into music [B] is not necessarily for moments like [E] these.
You get into music because you love a song.
You love what a song can do in somebody's heart and in [C] somebody's life.
To be able to see where those songs do get you or take you is wild.
At the end of the day, a lot of times we're [N] writing these songs to comfort our own souls.
[C] Then when somebody else signs up and says,
I love that [Db] song, it makes them [Ab] feel less lonely, but in return it makes us, the [Bb] audience, feel less lonely.
It's like, man, [N] is somebody else going through the same things that I wrote a song about?
Somebody else [E] around the world in a different country, in a different culture,
are still finding the same message and finding the same [Eb] [B] soul-searching [D] message.
We're going to the stage, the [A] Bridgestone Arena, the CMA stage,
to [G] sing a song [D] [A] with the dear Dolly Parton called Not Only Knowing.
[G] [D]
[G] Please!
Here we are, we're rehearsing.
[D] And you've got Jesus Christ over there in [G] the light.
How are you feeling?
Good!
Yeah?
[A] You look lovely.
And look at these fine pillars.
These are all your [G] people, right?
Well, they're my people.
[A] These are my singers.
[A] I'm doing a little behind [G]-the-scenes video.
How many years have you guys done background music?
[A] Oh, gosh.
[Db] 30 for me.
Early this year.
[G] You were children.
I was four.
[Bm] Yeah, [A] okay, you were four.
There you go.
Look at that.
[Bb] I love your group.
Thank you.
You [G] sound wonderful as well.
As we [A] would say in Australia, we're kids in a lolly shop.
[D] We're just thrilled that we get to do that.
No, [G] we're in Australia.
Sydney.
Because we've seen you [A] work Sydney a couple times.
Yes.
Pretty special back here, [G] CMA Awards.
They're doing a little work over here on the door.
[A] [E] And we're almost ready.
You [Eb] got any [A] words for us?
No.
No words?
No, I got no words.
He's just, I mean, [B] this, just notes.
There it is.
I like that.
[A] No words, just notes.
[B] And this is the musical director, Kent.
[Gb] Ah, the old guy.
Doing [E] a great job.
It is [G] done.
[A] 4.15, we're about 30 minutes behind,
which means we should arrive right at showtime.
But we've done the rehearsal.
It went great.
[G]
I need a new battery.
[N] Let me take something.
[D] My car battery didn't work again.
He screws [Bm] things up for Luke.
[A] So now we're running to Ashley's car,
and Ashley's car [G] is not going to start either.
[Bm] Omaha, we're not going to make [A] it.
We're going to have to cancel.
[G]
[A] Well, traffic's going to be bad on the east side,
not as bad on the west.
[D] But it's not particularly [A] good.
Matt, did you see the Titans won?
[D] [G] Was it unreal?
So that was the part where you were in.
