Some bands live a different life to their audience
Some bands, you know living a life of luxury for the rest of us or something
Chisel weren't like that.
They were interchangeable with their audience in a sense
They could have been any member of that audience could have been in cultures on cultures or could have been any member of that audience
[D]
[Ebm] [D]
[G] [D]
[G] I
Left my heart to the sappers around [D] KSAN
[G] and my soul was sold with my cigarettes [A] to the black market man
[G] I fed the Vietnam cold turkey [D] from the ocean to the Silver [G] City
[Em] It's only [C] other vets could [A] understand
I don't reckon you [Bm] can be in a rock and roll band [G] Australian rock and roll band and not appreciate cold chisel
You know, all of them are great players
Way too many good [A] songs
for any one band to have
[Bm] Initially people might have pigeon-holed Chisel [G] as being just a one-dimensional [D] yobbo rock and roll band
[G] But I suppose the journalists were [Em] amongst the first people to go [A] on
There's a fair bit more [D] happening here.
They were very volatile [G] and quite ragged
[D] Very clever.
I love saying that old footage of [Bm] cultures or because they're just a [G] wild band and there's a [A] dangerous element
That's that rock and roll should [Bm] always be there's an honesty [G] and a lack of pretension
[D] [G] With their music.
It's like that soundtrack to your [C] life or a soundtrack to a certain part of your life
[A] There are make by kind of band, but a bloody good gourmet
[G] Sometimes
[D] cultures will became almost like spiritual leaders [G] and their generation
I don't know many people that would even [A] know the words to advance Australia fair compared to [Bm] KCM
[G] Yeah, sometimes [D] gourmet sometimes [G] just straight [Em] out Mystery man
[A] I [D] think what made the difference with chisel was [G] the songs were so powerful
There's not one [D] bad
Suckle single.
[G] It was just a real blokey in [A]-your-face sound
They just elevated again from the [Bm] records and not a lot of people [G] can pull that off
It's freaking [Bm] rare you can have that.
[G] I guess we were all just trying to figure out what they were [C] for a long time
[A] And then by the time we'd almost figured it out.
It was all over
[Bm] [G]
That's the [Em] beautiful thing about a band is that you see a story
[E] Go back to the beginning
start from there and
follow them through
[Bb] the
[F] [Bb] [F]
[D] idea of a cult is a
Tribunal [Eb] makes all the sense in the world because [F] there were bloody good [Bb] souls to be filled with
[F] [Bb] I know this little girl [F] she's quite a picture
[Gm] I'm dreaming of every best [D] old boy and keeper
[Eb] When something like this comes along [G] and you're in the middle of rehearsing for a tour or [Bb] writing
It's really good because sometimes [Fm] you listen to other people's playing you go.
Wow.
I [Bb] never would have thought of that
I feel [F] really excited about just [Gm] starting the track today and knowing that it's gonna [D] be on a record with
Such a lot of [Eb] other great artists and also a lot of great [F] songs that have been [Bb] picked
The rising sun just stole my girl away
That's correct.
Cold [Eb] chisel.
Bloody record.
What album was it on?
Easterhook.
[Bb] We're Dallas Gray and we're recording another chisel track.
Oh, hang on
We've [Eb] never recorded a chisel track.
Don't buy my hat off me
I can't remember I was only in [F] Nappies at the time
Mmm, I still am
[Gm] You can never quite relax until you feel that the [F] original
[Eb]
Writers have heard it and they've kind of given their [Gm] seal of approval
[B] [C]
[Eb] [Bb]
Okay, [Fm] we turn on the most peculiar play
[Bb] Is that the melody?
I don't even know the [E] freaking melody
[E] [Dm] You can't kind [Em] of do them the way they do it [E] and expect to come out [D] smelling the roses
[G] [E] Tribute albums are kind [Em] of weird like that.
You know, how do you improve on something that's so great?
Maybe [A] if we don't sort of do it properly for [C] them then they'll feel like they'll have to come and show [Em] us really how it's done
I've been I've been working hard
12 [A] hours a day
I think every [C] artist that's on this record should be first of all should be honoured [Db] and be honoured
And second of all, [A] they've got to give it their best
[G] We're going to go at it like a ice smoking bull at a gate in a china shop
In a gated [A] china shop.
In a gay china shop
[E] Our spin on it is [Bb] to just throw as [A] much
[D] [E] youthful, [Bb] [A] young, [Em] red-blooded energy into it
[A] [Em] Hopefully make it jump [D] out of the speakers and give you girls slapping
[G] There's
[Eb]
[G]
a really easy way of describing this record
[Gbm] It's [C] the best Australian act of today [G] paying tribute to the greatest Australian [C] rock and roll band of all time
It's that simple
[G]
[C] [G]
I'm still [Am] rocking, bouncing, [G] searching, still rocking Don't worry
