Chicago's Color My [Bb] World is a great song to learn to challenge yourself to learn some
here mimics [Ab] the opening that is played on piano on the original [Gb] record.
translates nicely to fingerstyle guitar using just the first four [C] strings.
I'm holding the opening chord which is an F major 7 and I will [F] pick strings 4, 3, [Am] 2,
6 8 [D] time.

_ _ Chicago's Color My [Bb] World is a great song to learn to challenge yourself to learn some
chords that you [Eb] might not otherwise know.
_ [Bb] The solo we'll show you here mimics [Ab] the opening that is played on piano on the original [Gb] record.
It translates nicely to fingerstyle guitar using just the first four [C] strings.
I'm holding the opening chord which is an F major 7 and I will [F] pick strings 4, 3, [Am] 2,
1, 2, 3.
It's in 6 8 [D] time.
There are six notes in that pattern.
[F] _ _ [Am] _
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
_ [N] So the real challenge in learning the song is to recognize all these chords and play
them in a way that you get them on the first four strings.
So let's go over each of these shapes.
We already started with the F major 7.
[Am] _ _ Go to the very common A minor.
_ The next chord being a B flat will be held like [Bb] this.
_ _ [F] And then you have this E flat 9 chord and it's actually an E flat major 7 add 9.
Where [Eb] you keep these two fingers from the B flat chord, bring a bar across four strings
and you'll have this.
_ [Bb] _ _ The [N] next chord, A flat major 7.
The best way to line that up is to get your first finger on the G note here on the first
string and then one finger per fret.
_ _ [Ab] _ _
Next we have a [C] G flat major 7.
Just move that [Gb] down two frets.
[Bbm] _ _ As we go to a D [G] 9, you're going to have what you're used to seeing as a D 7 but without
your third [Ab] finger.
Play the same four strings.
_ [Am] _ _ _ _ [E] Then we go to G major [Db] 7, which is [Eb] the same fingering as the previous major 7 [G] chords with
your first finger at the second fret.
This time we go to a true E flat 9 chord and that's played with a bar across four strings,
[Eb] fingers 2 and 3.
_ _ [Bbm] _ _ From there we'll go to three notes of a C7 chord.
Most of [A] you will know that as this, but you just leave your third finger here from the
E [Ab] flat 9 chord and here's your C7.
[B] _ _ _ Then we're all the way back [F] home to our F major [Am] 7.
This time to play the B flat, I'm going to play a bar at the third fret because I'm only
going to pick three notes.
[F] I'll pick strings [Bb] 4, 3 and 2.
Add fingers 3 and 4 to get your C7.
Pick the same [Gm] strings [Em] and then we'll finish up with [Bb] this F major 7 chord.
First finger on the fourth string, third finger bars the [F] rest of the notes.
_ [Am] _ _ _ _
[D] And that gives us the chords we need.
If you need to spend a little more time learning any of those chords, be sure to just go back,
stop the video and work on any particular chord.
We now will play the whole song and it's played at the speed of the original record, which
[Ebm] is pretty slow, so that gives you time to find your fingerings from one chord [C] to the next.
So dig in there and have fun. _ _ _ _ _
