[N] Hey, this is Jeff's Musical Car from Moncton, and I'm here with Regina Saskatchewan's Colter Wall.
Nice to have you.
It's good to be here.
Thanks for having me.
[Em] No problem.
So tell me a bit about yourself.
Well, as you say, I come from Saskatchewan.
I actually come from a small town just southwest of Regina.
[F#] And _ _ _ [C] I am, as of today, 20 years old.
_ [N] Doing this long time?
Oh no, this [A#m] is my first [Em] ever tour.
Oh really?
Okay, so you're fresh off the press.
Yeah, I'm on the road promoting my first big new EP. _
And I'm _ _ _ _ playing alongside Danny Oliver, which is _ _ pretty great.
_ [E] Yeah, this is as far _ out east as I've ever been.
_ [Em] We welcome you to New Brunswick, and tell me [N] a bit about the song you're going to play for me today.
The song I'm going to play is [Em] from my new EP.
It's called The Devil Wears a Suit in Time.
And it's _ _ _ about _ _ _ a figure [N] in American folklore named Robert Johnson.
He was sort _ of the godfather of the Delta Blues, so to speak.
And he [Em] allegedly sold his soul to the devil in order to be able to play the guitar.
_ And so the song is sort of about that exchange.
Okay, well, whenever you're ready.
Alright, sounds good.

_ [Bm] _ _ [Em] He drove a [B] Series 10 [F#m] Cadillac and wore a cigar on his lip. _ _
_ _ [B] Don't you know [Bm] the devil _ [A] wears a suit in time?
Saw [Bm] him driving down a [F#m] 61 in early [B] July.
[E] Wide as [C#] a cotton field [D] and sharp as a knife.
[C#] I heard him howling [F#m] as he passed me by. _ _ _ _ _ _

_ _ _ _ _ [C#] _ He [F#m] said, [E] I know [B] you, I [G] know you, young [D] man.

_ _ _ _ _ _ [G] _
Great, that was awesome.
So, where do you get a lot of your inspiration [N] for your music?
Oh, I listen to a lot of _ traditional folk, _ _ Americana root stuff, obviously blues, delta blues, huge influence.
_ _ [Gm] Was that passed down to you by your [N] family or did you kind of just tumble upon it upon yourself?
No, that sort of stuff I sort of came [C#] upon more on my _ own.
The [G] country influence that I have, which is [G#m] also very _ _ _ vast, was [G] mostly that.
[C#] A lot of that came from _ _ my family and from where I'm from.
It really grew out of the cowboy culture.
[F#] _ _ [N] _ The more rootsy stuff and the folk stuff has sort of been _ something I've discovered on my own.
Sort of fallen into that.
So, it just felt natural for you to go that way?
Yeah, well, _ _ I mean, _ _ _ there's something about roots music and folk music that I think the rawness and the authenticity of it _ is what really draws me toward that sort of thing.
Well, that's great.
I'm glad you came along for a ride and I wish you luck on the rest of your tour.
[G] Thank you, sir.
