[A] [Gbm] [A]
[Eb] I guess we probably all met about the same time.
It's been about 10 or 11 years ago that we met down here.
[Bb] We crossed paths all over the place and now we all [Eb] live fairly close together in Southwest Florida.
[Cm] We do [Eb] have CDs that we've done together, some live CDs we've [Cm] done together.
That's true.
[Bb] And you've played on several of my CDs.
And John's played on mine.
And I've tried to get John to play on mine but he's too [Gm] expensive.
[Bb] James and I did a record together also.
Yeah.
So we kind [Ab] of spread the love, [Eb] spread the music around.
[Cm]
[G] [C]
[Em] We have fun.
We have [F] a lot of the same [A] influences.
We enjoy a lot of the same music by other songwriters [F] and we have a great time [G] together.
We keep talking [C] about getting in the studio [Am] together and putting out the ultimate Jim, [Em] John and James CD.
[F] And that's down the road somewhere I know but we just [A] haven't been able to get to it yet.
Well, [C] I feel like we got so much done here this week [Em] we've really laid the groundwork for that.
[F]
I [Fm] like to tell a good story, [C] you know, beginning and middle and end, [Em] just like reading a book.
Except you do it in [F] three and a half minutes [G] and it rhymes.
Hopefully.
[F] But I'm drawn to that, being [Ab] able to tell the story, carefully [C] drawn characters and [Dm] that sort of thing.
[G] And I'm kind of a paper napkin kind of writer where you see someone do something [G] or say something and you kind of make a mental note of that or write [C] it down.
And down here there's so much of that happening [A] all around you.
All around you.
You get bombarded with those kind of little things, people doing wacky stuff or [C] saying wacky things.
[D]
[G] [E]
[D] [Bm] Yeah, I like to tell a story but I find that I write more about the feelings that are involved in an event or a place.
[E] I think the idea is for [A] the listener to feel [D] something.
You want the listener to come away not just [Bm] singing along but feeling something [Am] and have some emotional [G] attachment to the music and lyrics.
[A] That's important to me.
[Bm] Yeah.
[A] We write a little bit about Key West and [D] it's, as James would say, it's [Gbm] research.
We [G] come down here and certainly people [D] watch and when the three of [Bm] us are getting together there's always an interplay of ideas where somebody will say one thing and then [G] we'll just take [Gb] off on that idea.
And [D] sometimes those end up in songs.
In fact, you have to be really careful around Jim because they end up on his records and not on mine.
These guys are great [E] writers.
They're really great writers.
[D] And [B] it's fun to enjoy each [D] other's music as much as we do.
[Bm] I [A] enjoy your music.
I [G] enjoy your music.
I really don't like his but
[D] And we're all glad to [Gbm] be a part of it.
The idea that we're [A] able to make a living doing [D] this is just [Bm] unbelievable to us.
[D] It's been great.
[N] Thank you.
[A] [Gbm] [A]
