[Db] [Ab]
[Bb] [Eb] Hey guys, welcome back to another lesson.
This week we're talking about more congregational songs.
So this is a follow up from the last video.
If you haven't seen that, please check it out.
I'll post the link below.
So we're talking about congregational songs
like the traditional 16 bars,
where you're going from the one to the four,
and then you're hitting the two, five, one.
So you can find this in songs like,
"'Have You Tried Jesus?
He's Alright." Or,
"'I'm A Soldier.'"
So, all these work in those scenarios.
So all you need to know is just four basic chords.
So we're in the key of B flat.
So we'll start there.
We'll start with [Bb] a B flat.
Dominant seven.
And so we can play around with that B flat,
[Gb] or we can add that piggy [Bb] here,
to get that 13.
So I'll post a chorus on the video as well.
And so then we're gonna go to the four.
[G] So the four B flat would then be E flat.
[Eb] So we'll play E flat seven there.
And then [Bb] when we do the two, five, one,
we're going [C] to C, [Db] L, [Bb] and then back to B flat.
So [C] keeping all those chords dominant.
C seven, [F] L seven, [Am] [Bb] back to that one.
So the last part of the song is the vamp.
This is where the leader calls out to the audience
and they respond.
And so, for instance, the leader might say,
"'Never,' and the audience might respond, "'Never forget.'"
So we're gonna hover from the one to the four,
but we're gonna make this a little bit more bluesier and churchier.
So we're [Cm] gonna take it to,
[Bb] from the seven chord to a [D] nine chord.
C flat nine, [E] and we're just going from one to four.
[D] So B flat [Db] nine, and then we're gonna go [F] to E flat nine.
So we're just [Fm] going.
[Db] [E]
[Db] [D] And that's the whole song.
So I'll go ahead and send you a link to a backing track,
or I'll just dump this track in the back of this video,
and you can practice along.
Thanks.
