[A] All right, ukulele Mike here.
I'm going to [N] tackle crazy G, but not in the way that Jake would do it
I I don't even pretend to have the
Facility or the speed that Jake can play or that many can play it
But my intent with this lesson is to basically break it down into its chordal sections
So you could practice in a slow fashion each section by itself
Put it together and then on your own work out your own strum and work up your own tempo
And have your audience yell faster faster faster have lots of fun with it
Ironically it's not in the key of G
The first part that Jake plays starts off in G
But the actual section of crazy G that is the part that he repeats and does faster and faster is actually in the key of D
[D] In fact it uses my favorite form of D.
Which is where you borrow the second fret
All the way across and your little pinky goes up to the fifth fret of the first string
[C] Okay, so let me break it down
[D] The [Eb] very first chord is that D chord with a little [Bm] finger up here, and you got to work that
bar in that little finger because [D] then
We drop it [Bm] down
[B] So you notice how we're going down the steps [D] here.
You can either bring your
[Bb]
Ring finger in for that second note or you can or you can slide your little [Bm] pinky down
so it goes
[Gb] Then go down to an A chord and put your little pinky up here on the fourth fret
Now this requires a little [A] bit of contortion for most people
Because
[E] [A] you got to [B] bring your ring finger in underneath here, so you [Db] keep your a chord like so
[A] little fingers up here on the fourth fret then the
Ring finger then slide [Em] down to the second [A] part so the first [D] section goes
[Bm] now [A]
the next part goes
Notice how I skip that note in the middle
You go [D] back up to the D,
[Bm] and then to [D] get this note
Your little finger goes over here on the fifth fret of the second string and you only strum down
three strings so it goes
And you try to just emphasize that as your ending note so it [A] goes
There [D]
you [Bm] go
[D] Excuse me
That's the walk-up
[Bm] [D]
[C] [D] [Am] [G] That's like a d7
[Gm] G chord
Notice what I'm doing there.
It's like an F chord, but these two fingers are just moved over each
Then go to [A] an a7
[G] [Bb]
Like [G] so
G [Bb] a
With a little finger up here [A] so goes [Bb] and [G] [A]
that ends it
Presumably until everybody says faster, so you [Bb] go
[G] [A] Faster [D] and then you go
[A]
[D]
[G] [E] [Db]
[G] [Gbm] Then [Bm] faster
Go [Gm] [A]
[D]
[G] [Gm] [Db] [A]
[G] [A] [D] to a D chord
[Eb] Slide it up for [D] a flat [Eb] back down up
[D] [Eb]
[D] [Eb] [D] Make it dramatic, [D] [Eb] [D]
and that's crazy G.
So take that apart slowly and
[A] happy strumming
