We're rolling
Cool you plugged in but I haven't got a
Signal I have got a signal okay, so I'm Alex from the Southern Ukulele store, and this just arrived
now some of you will know what this is some of you won't this is a
Special ukulele by Mike to silver a
Californian builder who builds this model which is the signature model of James Hill
It's just arrived for the night literally just set eyes on ourselves for the first time
We just checked it didn't arrive damaged, but I was literally just going wow wow wow wow
When Phil started filming so this has a select Adirondack spruce top I
Am guessing it's Adirondack.
I'll check in the spec if it's wrong
I'll correct it, but that kind of straight grain is normally only present with Adirondack spruce and
As I've said in previous videos before Adirondack spruce is that straight grain very direct
Just crystal clear
projective
Tonewood it's
One of the best home was you can get really that's why all of these old
1930s Martin guitars are so so valuable and so sought-after
select color back and sides
the color is always pretty and
The first kind of special feature of this ukulele is the bevel cutaway
So I can't quote James Hill on this
But I would imagine the reason for this is because if you have a traditional cutaway
There's a risk of losing a little bit of tone
Possibly some volume and the design of this ukulele is very much about volume as you'll hear in a second
So this has an especially wide
Body width a dead body depth I should say and a slightly wide almost super tenor like body width
[N] It's still a 17 inch
tenor scale ukulele with a slightly wider 37 mil nut
And it goes quite wide at the 12th fret about 2 mil wider than a normal ukulele
the other very special feature of this ukulele is the
hand inlaid pearl rosette around the sound hole
Which if you get really close you'll see is bound either side by tortoiseshell.
Can you get that in the video?
And the tortoiseshell even features at the end of that beveled cutaway and
Finds its way all around with a 2 ply sorry 3 ply.
Sorry 5 ply
Binding there.
This has a pal faro fingerboard and bridge in place of the rosewood that has been on previous models due to CITES
Regulations and restrictions.
It also has the the pearl
Slash possibly abalone fret dots as well.
I have caught us a little bit off guard of this video
The spec for this ukulele will be in the listing that you'll be able to view in the description below
But I'm feeling I'm going to play this.
This is only the third we've ever had here at Southern Ukulele Store since 2011
Mike
Seldom makes them I ordered this

14 months later.
