_ _ [C] Welcome back to [Db] the Texas music scene, good people.
[Ebm] Now, Dale Watson is [Gb] truly one of Austin's treasures.
Now, don't tell him I said this, but I am one of his biggest fans.
[B] He's bravely carrying on the flag for a brand of music,
[Db] thanks to the late, great Ray Price he calls a [Gb] _
Meripolitan.
He sat down with us to discuss [C] his [Bm] 2015 album [Am] entitled,
[G] Call Me [Bbm] _ [G] _
Insane. _ _ _ _ _
Everybody, somebody [D] in St.
Edward, Texas.
_ There ain't _ nobody, _ _ nobody [G] here. _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ Everybody, somebody [E] _
[A] in St.
Edward, [D] Texas. _ _
Relax, [Am] _ kick [D] back, _ and [Em] it'll be here.
This album is different from any other album I've done [D] in a special way
just because Lloyd Maynes produced it.
He [G] brings out the best in you, he brings out the [E] best in musicians.
Lloyd, [Gb] _ [Em] again, very open-minded [D] to my ideas,
but also, for him and his [G] own one track [D] in particular,
I wanted to [Gb] use a kind of a bongo thing.
I actually [F] put it on it, and he [A] goes, no, no, that's got to come off.
He is a master of what he's [E] doing, so [C] that's what makes this album,
[Gb] to me, more [Bb] special than the ones I've done so far
because it's got the Lloyd [G] Maynes touch.
_ There's still hope [C] in my _ heart.
_ _ _ [Bb] _
_ _ But that part is [C] never _ _ smart. _ _ _ _
_ _ Because it's [F] still ain't the [G] _
same.
_ _ _ _ [Bb] _ _
_ So call [C] me _ insane. _ _ _ _ _ _
Lloyd has a beautiful knack of _ never, ever criticizing.
[Bb] I don't think he doesn't like what you're doing.
[C] If you do a part, he [G] doesn't say, nah, I don't [C] like that.
He just says, well, let's try this.
_ Knows your [A] _
[Gm] game, [F] now you're the _ _ _ one to _ [Dm] blame.
[C] She's mine now, _ [G] and I owe it all [C] to you.
_ _ _ _ _ [G] He's such a great [Am] steel player.
I [G] kind of fell for my _ steel player, Don Pollock,
because he knew he'd be under [F] the _ microscope, [Dm] and he was.
[C] _
But Don took it in perfect fashion.
And Don, he [D] thinks that's his favorite, his best [E] _ steel record
that he's [D] ever played.
Oh, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Tinas _ Cabeza de Palo. _
_ That's what she [G] whispered to me.
_ _ _ Tinas Cabeza de [D] _ _ Palo.
And to me, it sounded [G] so sweet.
_ Well, Tinas Cabeza de Palo was [D] inspired
by _ the lady who cuts my hair.
She was worried the _ water was too hot on my hair
when she was going to wash my hair, get my hair wet.
And I said, nah, don't worry about it.
I [G] got a hard head.
She says, well, Vuelo says the same thing,
Tinas Cabeza de Palo.
[D] And I said, what? _
Tinas Cabeza de Palo, [Gbm] head like a [G] hard head.
So I sat there the whole time she [D] was cutting my hair
and we was talking, but still in the back of my mind,
I'm thinking, I like the way that rolled off her tongue.
So on the [G] ride home, I wrote the song.
[C] Well, I heard why _ [Em] that short man made [G] me glad.
[A] I heard him sing the grandeur [Am] _ always [D] made me sad.
[G] _ Calls it Fort _ Jones, [C] _ George [G] Jones is gone.
Thank God, Grand [D] Hero Music still [G] lives _ on.
Yeah, it does.
_ All these songs have been [E] doing a [B] while.
[C] Some of them [Em] I recorded long ago on demos, but never released.
[Dm] So [E] I'd like to re-record them.
We've been getting [Bb]
great response,
especially from Call Me Insane and [C] _
Everybody's Somebody.
_ And of course, [Bb] Jones is for Jones.
_ _ That hits a chord [C] with a lot of people.
_ _ Call me [Bb] _
insane.
_ Call me [C]
insane.
_ _ Call [Bb] me insane.
_ I guess I'm [C]
insane.
