Hello guys, this is Amos Dull Music, and in today's lesson I'm going to teach you how to play [E] this very awesome and very epic song called Gwyn, [Bb] Lord of Cinder from Dark [G] Souls.
To give you a preview, this is what you're going to ultimately learn by the end of the lesson.
Check it out.
[A] [B]
[Am]
Repeat!
[B]
[Am]
Yeah, that's it, guys.
[A] Let's get right into it.
So, very simple.
Once [Bb] we break it up into melody and chords, because that's the foundation of those songs.
[N] It just like upgrades every single time, okay?
So here we go.
Let's learn it, okay?
[G] Right hand is really simple 8 note melody.
Okay, so starting off with a single melody, later [E] on I'll tell you what to do.
So it starts with E, [Dm] D, down to A, [A] up to [G] E, D, up to G, [F] [E] F, E.
And that's it for the right hand.
These are the 8 notes.
So let's [Dm] practice it again.
One more time.
It goes [E] E, [Dm] D, A, back up to E, [G] D, up to G, [F] [Dbm] F, E.
And that's it for the right hand for this section, this main thing.
[D] So once you get that, left [F] hand is what we have.
So we have 2 different chords here.
These are 4 [E] note chords.
So the first one is A, B, C, [F] F.
This is kind of like a first inversion of F major with a B.
So play this for 4 times.
4 [Fm] times, and then change to the second different chord.
This is [F] A, C, D, G.
[Am] So [G] this is kind [C] of like an [G] A suspension 4 with a 7 at the top.
So 4 times 4.
[Dm] So [C] 4 of each.
So the first one is A, B, [F] C, F for 4 times.
And then the other one is A, C, D, [G] G for 4 times.
[Dm] So get this under your fingers.
So it gets under your fingers.
You must get this [Fm] block chord very [G] good first.
At the end, it will be a lot easier if you do get it because it's just applying patterns into it.
Anyway, the turn together goes like this.
So it [Dm] goes
[F] [Dm]
[F] And then switch to [Am] the other one.
Like that.
And [F] also, as I said, [N] I was counting just then.
It's in triple time.
So always 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3.
Make sure to count like that.
Because that will help you out later [G] on as well for [Dm] the complement pattern.
So one more time.
Together.
Here.
[F] [Am] Switch.
[F] [Am]
And [G] that's it!
So once you get this, repeat it a lot of times and make sure you get it correct every single time.
And once you can get that right, [Dm] let's start to apply those patterns into it.
It's like [Em] upgrading each time.
The first upgrade is where we [G] change the left hand pattern.
It's still based off the chords, right?
So what you want to do for all the block chords, you want to [A] change it to lowest note, [Bm] second note,
and then the highest [F] two notes, and then back to [Bm] that note before it,
and then back [F] to the highest two notes again, and back to the [Bm] note before it.
So there's like a 6th note pattern for all of those chords.
[A] So like this.
[B] You can still use it 1, [Dm] 2, 3, but there's 3 times 2 notes.
So 1, 2, 3, 2, [F] 2, 3, [Dm] [B] 4, 2, 3.
And then change for the other one, same [E] thing, exact same [A] pattern.
So just [C] 1, [Dm]
[G] [Dm] [G] 2, [C]
like that.
[Dm] So that's what you want to practice.
[C] [Fm] So yeah, make sure to practice this.
[N] It'll be hard if you're just starting with the piano because it does require a little bit of hand independence and agility with the fingers.
[Db] Some [A] of you might [Bm] accidentally [B] not press it to get off, or C and F,
[A] so just make [Dm] sure you press it to get off all the time.
[B] So move your fingers.
[Eb] So that's that.
So [Bb] once you've got that left hand pattern, you just apply it,
and exactly the same thing, and [Dm] it'll just be like this.
[G] [C] Awesome, right?
It [G] already sounds a lot more awesome now.
And then the other upgrade, and upgrading after that, [N] is a pretty simple upgrade.
For some of you guys who have big enough hands, just do octave for the right hand [Dm] melody.
And that sounds like the original, just like this.
[Am]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [B]
[Dm]
[C] Like that.
[G] Simple stuff.
So that's that next upgrade.
And then the final upgrade if you want to be more even [N] advanced,
the hardest thing is, you do the same thing for the left hand,
but for every A note, you want to play an octave below as an octave, okay?
So you need to do [G] like huge jumps, but that makes it more epic, sounding like the original, [A] like this.
[B]
[Am] Like that.
So this requires [Em] practice because it's pretty big jumps [E] and accuracy is here,
but obviously it's a payoff because if you want to make it more awesome and epic like that,
then there's a chance of not playing it like [D] 100% correct for those jumps, okay?
So yeah, it always just sounds something like this when you put it all together.
[A] [F]
[B]
[Am]
Yeah.
[A]
Alright.
So yeah, have fun with that.
[G] Okay, so you can see it's like a step-by-step upgrade,
[N] and it's just all formed by the melody and chords.
That's why melody and chords are so important in every song,
because once you master it, you can just put other improvisation and decoration patterns to it to make it more awesome.
But anyway, yeah, that's pretty much it.
So I [E] hope you enjoyed this lesson.

And [G] that's it!
So once you get this, repeat it a lot of times and make sure you get it correct every single time.

And then change for the other one, same [E] thing, exact same [A] pattern.
So just [C] 1, _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ _ [Dm] _ _ [G] 2, [C] _
like that.
[Dm] So that's what you want to practice. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ [Fm] So yeah, make sure to practice this.
[N] It'll be hard if you're just starting with the piano because it does require a little bit of hand independence and agility with the fingers.
_ _ [Db] Some [A] of you might [Bm] accidentally [B] not press it to get off, or C and F,
[A] so just make [Dm] sure you press it to get off all the time.
[B] _ So move your fingers.
[Eb] So that's that.
So [Bb] once you've got that left hand pattern, you just apply it,

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ [C] Awesome, right?
It [G] already sounds a lot more awesome now.
And then the other upgrade, and upgrading after that, [N] is a pretty simple upgrade.
For some of you guys who have big enough hands, just do octave for the right hand [Dm] melody.
And that sounds like the original, just like this. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ [Am] _
[G] _ _ [Dm] _ _ _ _ _ _
[G] _ [B] _ _ _ _ _ _ _

_ _ _ _ _ [C] Like that.
[B] _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [Am] _ _ _ Like that. _
_ _ _ So this requires [Em] practice because it's pretty big jumps [E] and accuracy is here,
but obviously it's a payoff because if you want to make it more awesome and epic like that,
then there's a chance of not playing it like [D] 100% correct for those jumps, okay?
So yeah, it always just sounds something like this when you put it all together.
[A] _ [F] _
[B] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Yeah.
_ _ [A]
