[F#] It's a special treat and a special [E] honor for us to have an opportunity to come out and hang out with folks like [C#] y'all.
I got a real good life, you know.
[N] I do exactly what I want to do and I've been doing that for a long time.
My mom always said I was the rebellious one in the family.
I don't really like to follow a lot of rules.
I break a lot of them.
I get in trouble for it, but
it's better to ask
forgiveness, easier to ask forgiveness than it is permission to do things.
Y'all know what I mean, exactly.
But I got to thinking a lot about, it seems like every year you wind up saying the same things to the troops and this
year I wanted to say something different, [F#] something that would maybe mean more [N] than what I've been saying.
I could have been a banker or a lawyer or a dentist or a bum.
Where I come from you can do whatever you want to do.
You can live on a half acre of land in a single white trailer or you can work your ass off
24-7 and own a big mansion.
You can have a used truck or a brand new Mercedes Benz.
You can
be married or divorced.
And you can have children if you want.
Well, I dreamed the other night that I had a little redheaded baby girl and if I do, if I ever do,
I'm gonna raise it like I was raised, do a lot of the same things hopefully that my parents did and
some of them maybe won't do some of the things they did.
But
my point is, is that because I'm an American,
I've got all the freedoms in the world to do whatever I want to do and
that's because of people like yourself and people that have gone before you, people that are willing to die for that
[Fm] that lifestyle.
[A#] And I just want you to [D#] know the fact that if anybody
[D] outside our border screws with me, that I've got friends all over the country that'll load their
weapons and go kill their [N] ass means a whole lot to me.
I like that.
I've always tried my best to take care of myself, but you know in some situations
you need a little help and in this one, in these situations, we've got a whole lot.
There's a lot of people at back home that
that are thinking about you, praying for you right now.
We just want you all to know that we love you and appreciate you for everything that you do.
And I'm kind of like Scott and Sua, as long as you guys are here and you're doing what you do,
if they'll have us back, we're gonna try to always be here and
at least do a little something to say thanks.
That's what this is all about for us.
So God bless all of you.
We're gonna do one more song and get out of here.
Everybody, I know you're cold.
I [G] am.
[C] And this is a tune that [N] was, it's been our biggest hit so far in my career and
it was inspired by the troops when we came over in 2002 to Afghanistan.
It was written about
9-11, the folks that died back home in that mess and that war that followed in Afghanistan.
And the way you guys went over there and it took care of that crap real quick and
in about two weeks you did something that the Russians have been trying to do for 12 years.
I think it speaks highly of our military.
It says we got the strongest fighting force in the world.
Thank you for being a part of that.
[G]
[C] [G]
I hear people say
we don't need this war.
I say there's something [C] worth fighting for.
[G] What about our freedom?
And this piece of ground
didn't get to keep
[C] back in there.
[G] [D] They say we don't [C] realize the mystery
before [Am] you [G] start preaching.
Let [C] me ask you this [D] my friend.
Have [G] you forgotten
[D] how it felt that day
to see [C] your homeland undivided
[D] and her people fall away?
Have [G] you forgotten
when [D] those towers fell?
We [C] had never seen
a sign of the [D] truth
that could help.
[C] And you say we shouldn't
worry about [D] that lot.
Have you [G] forgotten?
They took all the footage
off my TV
and said it's too
disturbing [C] for you to see.
[G] It'll just breed anger
is what the experts say.
If it was up to me
I'd [C] see it every day.
[D] See this country
is just [C] not looking for a fight.
[Am] After [Bm] 9-11
I [C] have to say [D] that's right.
[G]
How [D] it felt that day

[D] and her people fall away?
Have you [G] forgotten
when [D] those towers fell?
We had [C] never
seen a sign of the [D] truth

[C] Yeah, thanks to some
sick bastard named [D] Mitt Romney.
[G] Have you forgotten
when [C] [G]
[D] 9-11 soldiers [C] came on to war?
You [Am] bet they [G] remember
[C] what they're [D] fighting for.
[G] Have you forgotten
all the [D] people killed?
[C] Yes, some went down like heroes
[B] in that [G] Pennsylvania [D] field.
Have you [G] forgotten
that [D] our Pentagon
all [C]
the loved ones that we lost
and [D] those left
to carry on?
[C] Don't you tell me not
to worry about [D] that love.
[Bm]
[Am] [G] [D] Have you [G] forgotten?
[C] [G] Have you forgotten?
[C]
Have you [G] forgotten?
I don't think so.
Thank y'all.
