_ _ So this song was requested on Reddit [N] and it's played on a guitar.
It's actually
pretty easy and translates very well to ukulele.
So we're gonna cover it right
now.

There are four chords that
you need to know.
If you already know the chords, feel free to skip ahead to where
we cover the fingerpicking pattern.
But for those of you who are learning, the
chords that we need to know are A minor 7, F major, _ C6, and A minor 9.
Those are
the only four chords we need to know and they're right here on your screen where
you can look at them now.
We'll cover them real [C] quick.
So this song is
fingerpicking and we're only using the G, C, and E [Am] strings.
So the A string is not
in this song at all.
The first one, A minor 7, is the easiest chord in ukulele
history.
It's nothing.
You don't touch anything.
This is an A minor 7.
So for the
first chord, we don't touch anything.
Bing, bang, [N] done.
The next chord is F major.
You've probably played it a hundred times by now, but in case you're brand new,
we're gonna take our middle finger and fret the G string on [F] the second fret and
we're gonna take our index finger and fret the E string on the first fret.
It'll
[Cm] sound like [E] that.
The next chord we've got is C6.
C6, we're gonna fret the G
string and the E string on the fifth [G] fret.
[B] The last chord we've got to
learn for this song is A minor 9.
You're gonna take your F shape from before and
move it up two frets.
So that'll be your middle finger, fourth fret, G string, and
your index finger, third fret, E string.
_ _ Sounds like that.
So all together we have
A [C] minor 7, F [F] major, _ [G] C6, [C] and A minor 9.
Now you know the chords.
So this song is a
finger-picking song.
What that means is you're gonna play one string at a time
with different fingers.
The three fingers we're gonna use are thumb, index, middle.
So the pattern that we're gonna be doing sounds like this.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Slowed down, it looks
like this. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ So that is middle, index, middle, _ thumb.
And then you repeat it.
And your middle finger is gonna be covering your E string, your index
finger is gonna be covering your C string, [Em] and your thumb is gonna be covering your G string.
[C] _
_ _ _ That's it!
That's the only finger-picking pattern [N] that's used
throughout the song.
So master that.
Take some time and just play it open until it
feels really natural.
At first you might feel like you're stuttering or stuck, but
you got to build the muscle memory for this finger-picking pattern.
So just
practice it over and over and over until it feels smooth.
Alright, so once you've
got the finger-picking pattern done, all you have to do is get the order of the
chords.
So for the intro and the verse it's the same thing.
The chorus and the
link are a [C] little bit different.
So for the [F#] intro we're just gonna play the
chords in order.
So we're gonna start A minor [C] 7.
_ You're gonna play the
finger-picking pattern twice.
_ _ [E] Then you're gonna switch chords.
So you're gonna go
up to the F [F] major. _ _ _
Then you're gonna go to C6.
_ _ [G] _ _
Then you're gonna go to A minor 9.
_ _ _ [C] Okay, so all together it's gonna sound like this.
_ _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ [B] So you're gonna play that
whole progression twice for the intro.
Then you're gonna be in the verse where
you start singing the words.
Once you're in the verse, you're gonna play that
whole progression four times, and then you're gonna be in the chorus.
The chorus
is actually relatively simple.
You're gonna play the chords in the same order,
but you're just gonna pick them and let them ring.
So you're gonna pick all three
strings at one time like this.
_ [F] _ _ _ _ _
_ _ [C] _ _ _ That's the first part of the chorus.
You just play
those chords once like that.
When we pick those three strings together at once and
let them ring, that's called a whole note.
So for the chorus you're gonna play the
whole notes, and then you're gonna play your finger-picking pattern three times,
[B] and you're gonna play the whole notes once more.
Once you've played the chorus,
you got to play what's called the link.
The link is the part that happens while
those cool drums start playing in the normal song or in the music video.
The
progression is just a tiny bit different, but it's really not that much more
challenging.
You're gonna start on C6, this [Am] triad.
_ You're gonna play the
finger-picking pattern on C6 three times.
_ _ _ _ On [Fm] the fourth time, you're gonna open to
A minor 7, and you're gonna [Em] play it [C] once.
Then you're gonna go to [F] F major.
_ _ _ You're
gonna play F major twice, and then you're gonna go up to A minor 9 _ _ and play that
twice.
Then you're gonna repeat that, and [Am] that's the link.
So it sounds like this.
And _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [G] _ _ [Am] _ _ _ _ _
_ [F] _ _ [C] _ _ _ _ _
that's it.
Once you have played the intro, the verse, the chorus, and the link,
you're gonna start back at the verse.
You're gonna play the whole thing
through two more times.
When you get that done, all you do to end the song is you
end right here on the A minor 9 with a double whole note, _ _ _ _ and just let it [D] ring.
And then you're done with the song.
