Yeah, so Already Numb is about a girl that I had a past [B] with.
I've had a past with for almost seven years.
[G#m] And [A] it's [B] just
I mean, I've written
I mean, that was probably like my fifth or sixth song that I've written about her
through [A] the span of, you know, the time that I've known [C#m] her.
And [B] it's kind of been an interesting thing
because I feel like, [G#m] you know, over [B] the last seven years of my life,
[C#m] it's like I met this one person.
[E]
And the honest truth is [B] that just, you know,
anybody else that I had met or any other girls that I had attended to go out [C#m] with,
[A] it just didn't really hold a [E] candle.
It's like a connection that I [B] felt like we had right off the bat
and that [G#m] has still kind of [E] remained true even after all this time.
And so [B] it's just
I really wanted to capture with that [G#m] song how
how I [A] do, you know, I [C#m] do still have like a very [E]
[B] strong love for that person,
but it was also, you know, [G#m] kind of tackling that [A] there are just these people
[C#m] that you can meet in your life [B] where you have this kind [A] of gravitational,
[G#m] like, [B] pull to them and [E] it can kind of sometimes [B] defy, like, logic [A] or like ration.
[C#m] And, you know, there were times where [B] we'd be in like situations
where it [G#m] wouldn't be very healthy [A] and I don't think we would be [C#m] treating each other
[B] maybe like the best way that we could,
but there was still just this, [G#m] like, [A] undeniable attraction to one another
[C#m] and we couldn't really seem [B] to escape it or get past it.
And, you know, at the time [G#m] that I was writing that song, [A] it was like
it was [C#m] so
our relationship [B] was just kind of a roller coaster
and just these really, [G#m] you [A] know, big highs and really [C#m] just [E] deep lows
[B] where I would be so happy one day and then just, like, [E] miserable [E] the next.
And it was kind of a cycle where you get used to being, [B] like, let down so many times
that [G#m] it's [C#m] like
it bums you out, but then it doesn't.
You kind of get numb to [E] having to [B] deal with, like, the same emotional [G#m] interactions
over and over [A] again.
And so I think, [C#m] you know, with that [B] song I just wanted to [A] capture that, you know,
I did have, like, a [G#m] big undeniable love for her,
[C#m] but I was also kind of freaking myself [A] out how comfortable I was getting
with, like, getting used to being [G#m] let down
or just feeling like I wasn't enough, [F#m] you know, to be with her.
But, yeah, that's already, you know.
