Track 12!
Sorry.
It's not that easy to do with your hands.
Track 12, That's It, That's All, featuring Lights.
[A] That's It, That's All was probably the quickest written [C#m] song on the album.
We were with Dan Klenner, we were with [D] Lights.
I remember I was more of a [Dm] byproduct.
I was with Dan in Trackland and the [A] sonic texture of the song,
and we were thinking about that.
I was [C#m] able to witness you and Lights go through lyrics.
[D] I would say that song, obviously [A#] we tweak and edit over and over again,
but the guts [A] of the song was there within [D] an hour or two.
Pretty close.
[A] I was watching you guys.
I didn't even want to suggest that much [D] because you guys were riffing.
It was the first time we'd [A] written with her.
You guys went back and forth and I was like, this is [E] amazing.
It felt so natural that she had to [D] sing.
We made that decision that she would be featured on the track because she was writing.
[Dm]
It felt so much like a collaboration.
She was like, [A] oh yeah, I've got to sing it.
It was almost like two hours, [E] it was just a blip.
It felt like a little [D] moment.
It did feel like when [Dm] we were writing That's It, That's All,
that it was the cap [A] on the record.
Lights has been so inspirational [C#m] to us and to me and such a supporter of our band.
[D] Also, just having her there and being able to work on [Dm] this with her,
it felt like we were also in the same [A] place at that moment.
We were going through a lot and [C#m] this is mid-COVID.
[D] Feeling a sense of letting go [Dm] and realizing how much we couldn't control.
I think we [A] were both there and just wrote from that place.
[C#m] With the piano backing it and how it all came [D] together.
I've been friends with Dheeraj for a while.
Hang out at festivals or [Dm] random nights.
We just had a long friendship.
Then once I got [A] a text from Danielle just being like,
yo, we should write sometime.
We were trying to make it happen [D] for a long time.
Finally, the stars aligned.
We were in the city at the [A] same time.
We all went to Daniel Klenner's [D] place and just vibed on some ideas.
It [A] was really natural and cool.
We're similar in a lot of ways [E] in the way our creative process goes.
I look at Dheeraj and I'm like, [D] that's me but split in two parts.
Drew and Danny are this [Dm] perfect combo of creativity.
Both bringing different sides [A] of the brain.
You see them work together [E] in a group form.
He sat there for a couple days [D] and just listened to things that we liked.
We jammed up [Dm] piano and threw back some like [A] Robin style stuff.
Got really emotional with stuff and then really [C#m] tuned in to a moment.
[D] Basically the last day, we had this moment of [Dm] getting into this deep discussion
about [A] insecurities and our weaknesses and flaws and learning [Em] how to learn to love yourself.
It's been sort of a big thing that [D] a lot of people have honed in on over the course of the last couple years.
[Dm] Danny and I were on the same page in a lot of ways.
[A] We just started to sing about that really cool intimate moment and everything really flowed [Em] from there.
It was just a really natural [D] writing process about something that was really raw and real.
[Dm] Poetic and emotive and powerful and [A] hopeful and yet evolving.
That's it.
That's all.
[E] That was the song.
It was really fun.
It was fun [D] to duet with another girl.
I really love dueting with girls.
It kind of turns the idea of a duet on its head.
It's not a love song.
It's a self [A]-love song.
It is such a good end to the story [E] of the album.
It's fun knowing [D] the track is going to be the album ender before [Dm] you record any of the songs for the album.
[A] You kind of have it there in that spot.
I think [C#m] that we tried to, while recording it, embrace that feeling.
Sorry.
