Thanks for that.
Alright, let's break it down.
Alright, put the capo on the fifth fret and we're going to use some nice easy open chords.
The song starts with the instrumental progression that is also the chorus.
[Dm] So it's A minor to a [F] C and [C] then an F chord which in [Bb] this song I'm playing the full bar
chord F but if you only know this one, you know, 3, 2, 1 or this one.
[C] Any kind of F you can play, great.
The bar chord is good because [Bb] eventually it goes,
[Bbm] [F] which is a [E] little technique the Beatles
[Fm] kind of started in pop music or at least made very, very [Bb] prevalent in pop music which is
what's called the major four to the [Bbm] minor four to the one.
[Bb] So it's an F major to F minor.
I will [Bbm] follow you into [F] the sea.
So let's [A] go over that progression that's [Dm] the chorus, A minor and [Gb] you're going to be thinking
like down, down, up, down, down, [G] up, down, down, up, down, down, up, [Abm] down, down, up,
[Gb] down.
Sounds like he's using his fingers I believe.
Most of you are going to be better off with the pick.
It's easier for me with the [Dm] pick and it's [Ab] not like a finger picking song.
It's still a strummy kind [C] of song.
So A minor to [Dm] C, F [G] and then C, walk [Dm] down, A minor.
So [F] that's the classic C, then middle finger [C] goes a half step down on that A string, so second [F] fret.
So [C] [Dm] A minor, [A] those bass [B] notes in there on the A string.
[C] So from the top, [Dm] A minor, [F] C, F, C, [Dm] walk down, A minor, [F] to the C, but [C] now the G.
[Gb] And the G, you can do with these fingers.
I'm doing it with these fingers, ring [N] finger, middle finger, and then third fret [C] on the
B.
No high E in there.
[F] [Bb] [F] [Dm]
[C] [E]
So, starts over to A minor, [F] A minor, C again, but now this time E [A] major and that's another
little theoretical move where you make that major instead of minor and then [E] it goes beautifully
over to A minor.
[Gb] So [A] same shape,
[Dm] A minor, [Am] then a G note, [Dm] so pinky [F] on the third, [Bb] F bar chord, [Bbm] F minor bar
chord, you take your middle finger off to [F] the C.
So from the top of that [Dm] chorus, [F] [Bb] F, [C] C, walk down, [Dm] A minor, to the C, then [C] the G with that
thing, [Dm] A minor, [F] C, [A] E, [F] A minor over [Bb] G, F, [Bbm] F minor, [F] then C.
And now on the verses.
[Dm]
So [C] on those first two chords of that, C, it's C to A minor, but he does start doing a little
alternate bass line there.
So it'd be for [F] [C] that [A] C chord and then for the A minor, same thing, the A and the [D] E string.
[Bb] And then F opens up, [F] [C]
so those [E] don't have the walking bass line.
So let's go back to the beginning of [F] that.
C, [Dm] A minor, then [Bb] F, [F] then C to the G, [A]
and he's still [Bb] emphasizing that third fret [C] B on that G.
Okay, back to the [F] verse again.
C with the walking, [Dm] A minor with the walking, [Bb] then F, and [F] then the C to [C] the G.
Now that chorus that [Dm] we learned, A minor, [F] C, [Bb] F, C, walk down to [Dm] A minor, C to [C] that G,
C, [Dm] A minor to [F] the [A] C, E major, [Am] A minor over G, [Bb] and F, [Bbm] F minor, [F] C, walking bass line.
[Ab] So one part near the end, instead of going right into that chorus, it does a little section
where he goes, black [G] is the moon.
[Dm] [Bb]
You know, it's just [Dm] A minor to F, and [F] then
[D] You know, everything else is the same, but just look for [Dm] that little part.
[Bb] [F]
[Bb] [Dm]
[Bb] [G] [Bb] Et cetera.
So just look for that, and other than that, you are ready to go.
[Bbm] [F]
All right, [E] there was the lesson.
