[G]
[F] [A#] Do you [D#m] really really wanna do this [G#] now?
[D#m] [A#] Do you really really wanna do [D#] this?
[A#]
[Fm] [A#]
[Fm] [A#]
[D#] The heat goes up as the lights go down, the beat goes on when we hit your [A#] town.
Well I'd have to go with Let's Go first because it's so classically Leopard that
it [D#]
[Dm] came very naturally.
A lot of people might think we just sat down to try and rewrite Sugar [A#] but we didn't.
That's a song that was very close to my heart.
It was something that was [F#] pretty [C#] long in the making.
As I [G#] said, [A#] they were three or four separate [Gm] ideas from four or [C#] five years ago.
[G#] So I kind of got a soft spot for Let's [C#] Go.
It sounds [G#] typically 80s [C#] Def Leppard.
I love Sav's
[F#] [A#m] sense of [C#] a real classic [D#] sounding [C#] Def Leppard [A#] song that [A#m] takes you back to
[G#] maybe [C#] something that could have been on Hysteria or something that could have been on [G#] Pyromania.
When Sav [F] first brought the demo in, it was very poppy.
It almost sounded boy bandish.
Initially we [Fm] thought [A#] that's great, we'll do it like that.
We started writing [D#] and recording in January 2014.
Another great thing, we've done this in [A#] three sections.
We've done another session in May, went on tour,
we kissed, [D#] then came back and done another session in January, pretty much a year later.
I think some of the stuff sunk in and we were going, OK, this shouldn't sound like a pop boy band thing,
this [F#] should sound like a very [C#] aggressive hard [G#] rock thing.
So there's elements of [A#m] Queen in there and there's [F#] elements of Def Leppard.
We went overboard on [G#] the backing vocals, all the stuff you're not supposed to do.
[C#] We [G#] loved it, it was such a great [A#m] thing.
So [C#] that was good.
We've always said [F#] we're a hybrid between [C#] Queen and ACDC.
[D#] Initially that was the [G#] initial blueprint [C#] and somewhere along the way we [A#] got the Def Leppard sound.
I think that [G#] song [F#] epitomises that.
We [C#] just like those kind of songs with the big choruses [G#] and the [D#] staccato guitars and stuff [G#] like that.
[F#] Just loads of room for melody [Fm] and [G#] arrangement and [C#] just great dynamics.
So I would say let's go for [G#] sure.
[A#] I think Man Enough because it's a bit funky.
[E] It's not what we normally do, but [G#] we achieved what we set out to do.
It's so very different [F] for us.
It's almost funky, [F#] but at the same time it's got a Queen feel.
Another One Bites the Dust [G#m] maybe.
It's very bass guitar driven [B] in the verses.
It's [F] got a very cool lyric.
It really off the bat does not sound like a Def Leppard record.
It's a little more [F#] based [E] in [N] hip-hop if anything.
There's elements of Queen in there from Another One Bites the Dust.
[C#] [A#] It's just got a vibe to [F#m] it that I like.
It's all based [G] around a bass guitar lick [F] anyway.
So the whole [G#m] song is that's [C#] the anchor and the whole song is just colour around this bass guitar lick.
[B]
[C#] [F#]
[C#] [F#] The third song would be a song called We Belong.
[C#] [F#] I picked that one not because I wrote it, but because [C#] it's the [F#m] only song that we've ever recorded in [C#m] 35 years where every single member of the band [C#] sings lead vocal.
[F#m] That's nice because we've been [F#] known for so many years as being a very [C#] vocal intense [F#] band, but it's always been that big [C#] block of group [D#m] vocals.
So it's a nice [C#] diversion to actually have [F#] each and every one of us take a turn at the lead vocal and [C#] showcase what we can [F#] do.
Joe I think does tend to write the [C#] best songs.
[G#] I think that's because he's a singer and he's not encumbered by
[C#] Like us [D#] guitar players we tend to overcomplicate things.
[D#m] We need a guitar [B] riff, we need some tricky parts.
[C#] Whereas Joe, even though he plays [B] guitar and piano and drums and whatever else, I think because Joe's a lead [C#] singer he thinks very much [D#m] in terms of simplicity of melody, [C#] which is what all the best songs are about.
So [B] I really really like the song We Belong.
[C#] I can't get stronger
[F#] You're all that I am
[C#] You're all that [B] I see
The keys to the [E] kingdom are waiting for [D#m] me
So don't hold me [C#] back
But don't hold me [B] down
Just hold me and don't let [F#] go
[Am]
[F]
The one thing about that song, [C] as opposed to everything else [A#] on the album or anybody that's ever [D] been in a band [F] and had a song that they've lived with for a while but then ended up rewriting parts of it.
I sang the lead [C] vocal to a completely different backing
[F] [A#] Do you [D#m] really really wanna do this [G#] now?
[D#m] [A#] Do you really really wanna do [D#] this?
