Pash [G] Low from England.
Very welcome here David.
Pardon?
This time [Ab] I said David, I said very welcome here David.
Hello.
David, yeah.
You have an all synth band and it's not yet that common.
I've only heard about three famous synth bands in English, in England.
Was this the way you formed the band?
No, when we began we had guitars.
There was a bass [Bb] guitar and a general guitar and a drum machine.
But then we gradually [G] changed over to all synths.
Why did you quit the guitar and the bass?
It just seemed not a natural thing.
Martin had a synthesizer and Andy and Vince bought one.
Following it just seemed the right thing to do at that time.
Do you think synthesizers can replace real instruments totally?
[N] No, I don't think so.
There will always be guitars and drums I think.
But we're using them in the same format as a normal band.
Like bass, rhythm and lead guitar and the drums on tape.
But it's okay.
They started Depress Mode two years ago.
And then they had drums, a synth, guitar and bass.
But then they thought it seemed more natural to let everyone play on synths.
And that's what they do today.
David doesn't think that synths can take over completely.
There will always be guitars and drums.
David says that their musical roots came from the fact that they all grew up in a suburb outside London.
And I've heard it quite often.
But they also wish that we should have fun when we listen to their music.
You never know though.
We might change in a week's time.
But who knows.
Alright, [G] this first song, New Life, what is that about?
I don't really know.
Vince wrote the lyrics and he's recently left the band.
And we always asked him what the lyrics meant.
But we don't know.
You have to ask Vince.
They don't really know if they'll look the same in two years.
[Eb]
And I asked him what the first song was about.
And he said he didn't know because it was [G] written by a guy who left the band.
And they still haven't understood what it's about.
